Windstar Express was started in 2008 as a family owned Step Deck carrier based in Carroll, IA. In 2010, we expanded into the specialized End Dump market, and have seen steady growth ever since.
Today our company has grown into other sectors of the trucking industry, and we now operate Step Deck, Flatbed, End Dump, Lowboy and Conestoga trailers. Our fleet is made up of Peterbilt 389’s and 579’s, with an average age of 2 years.
As a small, specialized Iowa trucking company, we pride ourselves on providing quality freight transportation for a variety of customers throughout the U.S.
Welcome to Windstar Express! Thank you for your interest in our company.
Windstar Express offers Drop Deck, Flatbed, Lowboy, End Dump, and Curtainside trailer transport. We have a variety of hauling options that are sure to be a perfect fit to accommodate just about any load!
END DUMP
This division began by hauling feed ingredients by flatbeds, with covered wagon kits and traps in the floor. As our business grew, we discovered that hauling feed wasn’t enough. We had full loads to deliver, but empty trailers on the return trip. Research revealed that there was a need for steel coil transport back to the Midwest—so we designed a very versatile, aluminum framed End Dump trailer that is outfitted with coil racks and chain ties built directly into the trailer. Our End Dumps are light enough to gross 48,000 lbs. of product, but built strong enough to withstand 50,000 lbs. of weight in a concentrated 4-foot area. These are incredibly efficient trailers!
FLATBED
Flatbed trailers are the standard trailer in the open deck industry. These trailers are built to withstand the abuse of heavy-duty hauling. No matter what the load is, this trailer ensures exceptional strength, increased payload, ease of use, and years of maintenance free operation.
Less than truckload (LTL) shipping allows multiple shippers to share space on the same
truck while full truckload shipments typically travel on only one truck with one destination.
The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) allocates a specific number to each product
that could be shipped. That is the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) that pairs to the
freight class best suited for the product. It’s important to include the NMFC number on the bill of
lading to reduce chances of reclassification.
