Western Transport Inc. began its life in 1963 to transport building materials for our former parent company. In 1985 we became an independent for-hire carrier under its current management. Since that time we have expanded from 2 trucks to our current size of over 60 power units and 85 refer and dry vans. In 1994 this growth allowed us to move from our Yellowstone Highway location to our current location on 15 acres near I-15 exit 113 south of Idaho Falls ID.
We believe that our medium size allows us to reliably serve our customers’ continued growth, while still preserving a very personal relationship with all involved. Transporting goods safely and communicating in an honest manner are our primary goals. As a result of this higher standard of integrity we look forward to a bright and prosperous future for our customers and employees.
COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Not only do we spec the most efficient trucks, but we began implementing fuel saving technologies before it was the popular thing to do. We strive to continue improving energy efficiency in an effort to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution.
HONESTY AND INTEGRITY
Transporting goods safely and communicating in an honest manner are our primary goals. As a result of this higher standard of integrity we look forward to a bright and prosperous future for our customers and employees.

There are 18 freight classes. They are determined by weight, dimensions, density, storage capability,
ease of handling, value and liability from instances like theft, damage, breakability and spoilage.
To help you determine freight class, we’ve developed a freight density calculator.
Less than truckload (LTL) shipping allows multiple shippers to share space on the same
truck while full truckload shipments typically travel on only one truck with one destination.
