Pricing: When we tell you the cost of your local or long distance move or other service, it’s guaranteed “not to exceed” pricing, rather than a typical flat rate. So, we’ll tell you the price, but if your service ends up costing less than we thought, we’ll charge you less. But, we’ll never charge you more. And, we don’t overbook. If we tell you there’s time, and we’ll be there … we will.

Management: The Padded Wagon is family owned and operated, with central management that oversees moving and storage services throughout the United States and abroad. We don’t franchise, we don’t outsource, and we don’t hire subcontractors as local or long distance movers. If your belongings are loaded onto a truck in NY to go to Texas, they’ll stay on that truck until they arrive and are unpacked at your new home or office.

Equipment: We’ve got nearly 80 recent model vehicles, ranging from a Smart Car all the way up to two-ton trucks. They’re all fully-inspected and serviced regularly by our full time team of mechanics, so we know that they’re always ready to go for all moving and storage services. Each of our trucks is stocked with a vast array of equipment to help pack, load and secure your belongings.

We’re covered, and so are you.

The Padded Wagon is fully licensed and insured. Our trained, professional local and long distance movers all have background checks, and our drivers have excellent safety records. We value our employees, many of whom have decades of moving experience, and are happy to boast exceptionally low turnover.

We’ve been around for a LONG time.

When the Padded Wagon moving company was established 60+ years ago, a guy named Harry Truman was getting ready to move out of a big white house on Pennsylvania Avenue, and someone named Eisenhower was preparing to move in. We’re proud of the fact that since then, our company has only had four owners: the founder, Ted Peters (’52-’68), Henry Avery (’68-’73), James Caffery (’73-’94) and current owner Eddie Dowling.

You can simplify the process of moving yourself, your family or your things overseas by deciding to let Padded Wagon’s trained international shipping team manage the entire process. Containers designed for international shipping or overseas moving can come right to your door, where you can handle the loading or leave it to us. We’ll take care of all the logistics: any and all required documentation and translations associated with international shipping and overseas moving, as well as ensuring accurate departure and arrival dates.

We understand that with long distance and overseas moving, there may be additional needs. Whether it’s temporary storage or housing, furniture rental or travel arrangements, we’ll either take care of it ourselves or connect you with an affiliate who can. No matter the size of your organization, and whether you’re moving within the same building or to an entirely new location, it can be daunting to think about every, single, thing, that has to be broken down, packed up, transported, unpacked, set up, organized and plugged in. We encourage you to forget it all!

Our nationwide commercial and office moving service starts with a professional estimator who will assess your needs, check your service access and parking bays, talk to you about building and landlord moving rules, and develop an action plan. If you need it, we’ve got a full-time team of carpenters and mechanics to disassemble and reassemble any complicated fixtures or installations, specialized bins and carts for computers, printers and electrical equipment, and specially-equipped trucks to handle heavy or bulky items like copiers and servers.

Thinking about files, office supplies and books? As part of our nationwide commercial and office moving service, we can pack (and unpack) as much as you want, or leave that to you, and just show up when it’s moving time. And YES – we can move you at the crack of dawn, after hours, or on weekends to eliminate downtime.

Maybe you’ve sold a beautiful antique piece of furniture, and need to see it arrives at your client’s home in pristine condition. Or, you’re the interior decorator, responsible for filling an entire local brownstone.

You can count on our local and long-distance residential moving company, because you’re always dealing with us, even if you’re moving far away. Padded Wagon is family-owned, and we have central management across all of our locations. We don’t franchise, and we don’t outsource our work. When you hire our expert residential movers, that’s who you get: professional employees who take their responsibilities seriously.

How much of your move we handle is up to you. You can pack, or our residential moving company can do it for you, quickly and safely. When you and your possessions arrive at your new residence, we can help you unpack, or just unload and position the furniture and then get out of your way. You tell us what you need to make your local or long-distance move easier, and we’ll do it.

Long-distance residential move? Your possessions will be packed and loaded one time, and they’ll stay that way until they arrive at your destination. There’s no loading and reloading, and no subcontractors who may or may not take care of your stuff.
