In 1992, Martin Kukowski established The Moving Man, Inc. in Anchorage, AK. He began as a private moving contractor, and the business quickly developed into a full-service moving company. Martin continues to be an integral part of the team, and has hand-picked our crew for their years of experience in the moving industry. As a small business owner, Martin is invested in his staff and the Alaskan community that The Moving Man serves.
As a locally-based, family owned business, we know the impact that customer service has, and it shows in the amount of return customers and referrals we help each year. Our experience with moving in Alaska, in all kinds of weather, puts our team a cut above other moving companies that are a part of national chains. We are licensed, bonded, and insured and committed to efficiency and safety. Our office staff is available 8am-5pm Monday through Friday to answer your questions, concerns, or to offer our rates.
Local Residential
Local residential moving is the backbone of The Moving Man’s work. Let The Moving Man take care of the stress of moving locally for you! Our local moves can be a simple as moving furniture within a house to a full service pack-and-move. We can provide new or gently used material for you to pack your box-able goods, or we can pack them for you. Local rates cover moves within Anchorage, Wasilla, Palmer, essentially anywhere the road reaches in the state of Alaska. Labor rates are based on time and the number of crew members and vehicles needed. Please contact our office for rate details and with any questions you may have!
Local Commercial
Moving an office full of people can seem like a daunting task, but not for The Moving Man! We can complete a full pack and move in an efficient and timely manner that saves your company time and money. We can accommodate both large and small office moves, and have the ability to store items if necessary. Considering the diversity of corporate moves, we highly recommend scheduling a complimentary walk-through with our estimator. Please contact the office for details!
Out of State Moves
Out of state moves range from full service (pack, load, and offload) to self-pack-and-load options. We offer the use of full 45’, 40’ and 28’ containers as well as designated space in the 28’ containers. We also ship vehicles, either separately or with your household goods inside a 40’ or 45’ container. We can help you pack and load, just load, or you can choose to load and offload your household goods on your own. You decide how much help you would like! We work with other moving companies similar to ours for those that need loading or offloading help outside of Alaska. Here are a few details on each level of service we offer. Please contact our office with any questions!
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.
In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.
Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.
Appliances such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators must be disconnected, and the washer
must have a stabilizer installed. Again, your estimator can help you understand how these
items are properly serviced. All local moving companies have business relationships with
local service providers that handle this type of service, however full service moving
companies and national moving companies will also be able to provide all of the moving
services you require. Be sure you know who your mover will be using, as you will need to let
these people into your home to provide the service.
