Where We Have Been
The journey began 1968 when Tom Walrath Sr. became an owner/operator with the purchase of a 1963 Peterbilt log truck. Tom Sr. operated a single truck for almost 20 years, with his wife, Marlene, taking care of all the book work for the company. Then in May of 1987, Tom Jr. officially started driving a truck alongside his dad. Marlene continued to maintain the books, while Tom Sr. and Tom Jr. drove and maintained their own trucks.

Where We Are
Tom Sr. and Marlene are happily retired and Tom Jr. runs the company, but is always happy to hop into a truck if the need arises. Through the years, Walrath has been blessed with growth from the contribution of outstanding and committed employees. Walrath now operates with over 75 employees at the main truck yard, 2 Walrath Landscape Supply locations, and the Walrath Marine division. The acquisition of equipment and the growth of our work force has allowed an even greater ability for the delivery of quality products and service to our highly-valued customers.

Where We Are Going
Walrath has the desire to continue with the small family business values that it’s rooted in, while striving for the highest satisfaction with our customers. We believe family comes first and we will always strive to create close family relationships with our employees. The future may still require adjustments and flexibility, but there are some things we believe should stay the same.

Walrath is a specialty service provider on the water. Materials and Equipment can be transported and placed in all types of marine applications. Our marine facility, complete with loading dock and land ramp is conveniently located in the Port of Tacoma. We are based out of Tacoma serving the entire Puget Sound as well as Lake Washington.

The ramp barge delivers materials and equipment to shoreline projects when land access is difficult. For example:
Loaders, excavators, dozers, piling, mobile homes, quarry rock, beach sand and more!

Barge Load/Offload – Walrath will come to your site and set up all needed equipment for easy load and off load. Walrath can provide a conveyor barge and front loaders for simplified trans loading of materials.
Transportation of Bulk Material – Where to? We can move it!
Tug Boat Services Walrath will move your barge in and around the Puget Sound Area.
Barge Assistance – Need assistance in a tight area? Walrath is available on a very quick response rate out of Tacoma, WA.
Beach Nourishment & Repair – Walrath has very qualified Staff to help with remediation and are well equipped with material and equipment on some of the most technical material placement projects!
Transportation and Delivery of Aggregates on the Water – Moving material on the water is efficient and sometimes the only way to get to a project. Walrath’s ramp barge makes it easy to move bulkhead rock to the beach.
Land Ramp Port of Tacoma – Need to load or offload, Walrath can make the job easier! The Walrath loading ramp makes access to the water easy. Great for “Break-Bulk” items.
