History of TDC Transport

The company all began when Charlie Gross and Brent Peavey worked as brokers for a logistics company out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. While commuting from Mt. Pleasant to Grand Rapids for work, Brent would often stay a few nights a week with Charlie. After-work beers led to many discussions about how carriers couldn’t effectively plan routes to make a profit. Charlie had been working at Transcorr National Logistics for six years, and Brent for 2, when they decided to make a real change in trucking. These casual conversations resulted in a dream, borne of thorough research, that resulted in an aggressive business plan.

Brent and Charlie shared their intentions with a close friend and mentor who believed in their dream and helped bring it to life! After securing working capital from their investor, Brent quit his job immediately and initiated the development of the company. It was crucial to Brent and Charlie to highlight the backbone of the company: THE DRIVERS!.

They wanted to ensure drivers had guaranteed pay. That’s why TDC Transport is ..: “The Drivers’ Company”.

Their original plan was Charlie staying at Transcorr for a year after opening TDC. But due to the rapid growth, Charlie resigned after only a month to dedicate himself fulltime to TDC. TDC Transport was authorized to haul freight on March 17th, 2014. Today, TDC is home to 43 trucks, and 110 trailers. We haul for great customers like Dow, Dupont, Corteva, Arauco, Loose Plastics, and Morton Salt, and many more.

As of 2021, we run 43 Trucks and 110 trailers. Our coverage area is the eastern half of the lower 48. We provide 53’ dry van plate trailer service. All of our trucks are powered by Detroit diesel engines and transmissions. All of our trucks are full service leased through Ryder in Lansing, MI.

Q How are charges based for local moves or for moves within my state?

Local (intrastate) moves are generally based on a per-hour cost for the personnel and
the number of vehicles that the mover provides (up to a certain distance, with longer
distances based on the weight of your shipment and the mileage it is transported) and the
level of liability that the mover will cover in the event of loss or damage is generally
less than would apply for an interstate move.

Q How do I get an estimate?

Once you have compiled a list of movers, inform them of the destination and timing of your
move. Ask them about the types of services they offer. Also ask them to explain their
estimates in detail and to give you a copy. If any company refuses to give you a written
estimate, you should eliminate them from consideration. Then carefully compare to see which
mover best suits your needs and budget.

The cost of your move will be based on the actual weight of your belongings and the distance
they are shipped, plus the amount of packing and other services that you require.
To help you anticipate the cost of your move, movers will give you an estimate of the price.
Be sure to get written estimates from at least 3 different movers so that you can compare
their services and prices.
