Hello everyone. My name is Sammy, owner and foreman at Stacking Sam’s Moving. With over 20 years in the business, I’ve established a moving help company to serve my local community.
When I started this moving service, I wanted to offer my customers a professional affordable service.
Most moving companies in the industry have an overvalued pricing model, that most customers will consider too expensive to fit their needs.
On the other hand, companies that charge outrageously low rates are probably worth what you pay for (broken furniture, slow inefficient service, classless workers, undocumented immigrants, unregistered business with no health coverage for their employees).
I employ professional movers from Ottawa, with proven experience in all areas of the industry. I give them additional training to meet our excellent working standards. Unlike the bigger/pricier moving companies, we focus on the labour aspect of moving. That’s why our movers are generally faster and more efficient, while at the same time avoiding damage to your furniture. They get paid well, so they work much harder than your average mover.
Local Moves
Moves within Ottawa. Covers about 40km from our headquarters in St-Laurent. If I give you an estimate of completion time but the job goes over because of unforeseen issues, you pay 30% off for the extra time. We charge a minimum of 3hrs (industry standard “1hr travel time” + our 2hrs labour). Minimum hours are based on your type of residence as detailed in the estimate section below (House/apt, 1-5 bedrooms…).
Long Distances Moves
We cover roughly 500 km from our headquarters in Ottawa (Moves to Montreal, Toronto…)
In all likelihood, you will find that an on-site estimate based on a physical survey
of the items that you plan on moving will be more accurate than an estimate that you
provide to your mover over the telephone or the Internet. So, unless circumstances warrant
(normally due to the time constraints of a short-notice move or because you are only shipping
a few items) think carefully before you elect to waive the required physical survey
of your shipment.
If you are receiving a non-binding estimate, the charges that your mover assesses on your
shipment must be based on the actual weight of the shipment. Your mover may not lawfully
assess transportation charges on shipments with non-binding estimates on cubic feet, volume,
time (hourly) or on any basis other than weight. Also, the federal regulations require that
shipment weights must be determined on a state certified scale with a copy of the weigh
master’s tickets provided to you in support of the final invoice.
