WHY WORK WITH SALSON?
SalSon gives retailers and large brands a turnkey, end-to-end logistics solution to get products to market faster – from container to consumer. We help turn products into cash as fast as possible.
Why work with SalSon? Here are a few reasons.
WE HAVE STRONG ROOTS
SalSon was founded in 1960 by two childhood friends, Sal Berritto and Sonny DeMarco – Sal, meet Son. More than 60 years later, under the leadership of our current President and CEO, Anthony Berritto, SalSon has grown from “two trucks and an empty warehouse” to a debt-free, $100 million-a-year company with locations throughout the Eastern United States. Ours is a classic American success story.
WE’RE ASSET-BASED, BECAUSE THAT MATTERS
Integrated logistics services are delivered by SalSon people on SalSon assets. That gives us, and you, the control needed to minimize risk and keep product moving. SalSon owns 1,200 chassis, 600 tractors, and 1,200 trailers to provide the capacity you need, when you need it. And we’re adding new assets every year.
WE’RE AGILE, BECAUSE THINGS CHANGE – FAST
We offer big company resources without the red tape. When you need help, you can’t wait for an email to travel up a 4-level chain of command. You need fast decisions and fast action. That’s how we’re wired.
WE NOT ONLY GET IT. WE GET IT DONE.
SalSon people are can-do problem solvers. The roll-up-your-sleeves kind that like a tough challenge – and like to win. We know that our on-time/on-budget performance is a direct reflection on your reputation and success. We never forget that.
WE MOVE YOUR PRODUCTS – FROM PORT TO SHELF
SalSon’s asset-based drayage services give you the dray capacity you need to get your products off port quickly. Dray management is a core SalSon service at the ports in Newark, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah and Houston. Our largest drayage operation is in Port Newark where our dray fleet is four times the size of average competitors. We run 24/7 and process more than 100,000 containers a year.
In Newark and Savannah, SalSon’s warehouse locations near the port allow high-volume importers to reduce transportation costs and get products to market faster. Warehousing and distribution is one element of our integrated port-to-store-shelf logistics solution. SalSon operates over one million square feet of warehouse space across multiple facilities in the Northeast and Southeast.
Let’s face it, your container cargo isn’t worth a dime until it’s on a store shelf. SalSon’s transloading services help you get your imports to market as fast as possible. In fact, we can turn most inbound containers within 24 hours from the time they clear customs. For Newark transloading services, our 800,000-square-foot container freight station in Newark operates 24/7.
When shipping goods, it’s always important to minimize movement. Pack crates or boxes as full
as possible, with heavier items on the bottom. If the crate is not filled, use packing material
to plug the empty spaces.
Freight service providers offer tracking services online to access a shipment’s status 24/7
from your computer or mobile device. You can track a shipment with a BOL number, but you can often
access the shipment’s location with the pro number, PO number, shipment reference number and shipment
number as well.
