Vision, Passion, and Perseverance = Success
River Plate, Inc. was born in July of 1992 as a family owned messaging trucking company though out southern California. Back then the company was called River Plate Trucking. As the years went by our customers demanded more than just transportation, so we listened… We opened up a warehouse for the customers to store their product, and gave an option to do cross docking.

Warehousing

Warehousing and distribution are used in the distribution process of supply chain management to deliver a product from the point of order all the way through the customer delivery process.

Differences Between Warehousing And Distribution
Physically there’s not much difference between the two, defined clearly however, a warehouse describes a static storage space whereas a distribution center is described as a facility from which wholesale and retail orders are filled. Warehouse by definition is static and distribution as an active operation.

A distribution center provides a variety of services such as transportation, cross-docking, order fulfillment, labeling, packaging, order preparation and processing, shipping, receiving, transportation, returned goods processing along with tracking and measurement. A warehouse is focused mostly on the practice of storing products, a distribution center concentrates on providing great customer service. Most distribution centers have state of the art order processing, transportation and warehouse management systems to effectively manage receipt of products, scanning bar codes, locating and storing products efficiently, pick and pack services, order processing and plan loads. The distribution center services as the primary link between suppliers and customers and its management. These centers have become crucial hubs in the supply chain management process. Many fulfillment companys serve to combine these services for their clients.

Freight Logistics
Freight logistics companies are companies that specialize in the moving or forwarding of freight and cargo from one place to another. Freight logistics companies are divided into several variant sections. For example, international freight forwarders ship goods internationally from country to country, and domestic freight forwarders, ship goods within a single country.

There are various methods of shipping goods; by air, road, sea, or rail. Some companies offer multi-modal solutions, this means that they offer more than one service, in many cases air and sea and in other cases air, sea, and road. The most common multi-modal way of shipping is referred to as inter-modal meaning truck pickup to rail to truck delivery.

Q How long does it take to move?

This depends on many factors, such as the time of year, weather conditions, size of your
shipment, time required to load and unload, and the direction and distance your shipment
is traveling.

Because the furnishings of the average household will not fill a truck, it is often necessary
for two or more shipments to be loaded on the same truck. Each shipment is carefully
sectioned off from the others.

With the help of computer-assisted dispatching system, pickup and delivery dates
are scheduled according to the origins and destinations of individual shipments on the trucks,
as well as shipment weight.

Q How long in advance should I contact movers?

This is one of the most frequently asked moving questions. Often you don’t know when exactly
you will move and thus you can’t schedule your move in advance. It is best though if you can
start contacting movers at least a month in advance. The earlier the better because then you
will have the time to research the moving companies and schedule your move for the desired
day.
