Our Story
Founded in 1962 by Clifton Pottle, our company has grown into a nationally recognized carrier. Former CEO and President Barry Pottle purchased Pottle’s from his father, Clifton “Cliff” Pottle, in 1988. Since that time he has grown the company to over 190 trucks with more than 750 trailers.
As of November 2022, Pottle’s has been acquired by Bison Transport Inc. of Winnipeg, Canada. The Pottle’s mission will continue to live on through our new team, the Bison Family.
Logistics
Our logistics division has developed the Pottle’s Preferred Carrier Program that seeks out safe, reliable, and high-quality third party carriers that work exclusively with us.
We have 20+ Pottle’s Preferred Carriers (PPCs) dedicated to being carriers with us.

The bill of lading (BOL) acts as an invoicing receipt in the shipping industry, and with many
motor carriers, the BOL is the contract of carriage between that motor carrier and the shipper.
It includes important information related to the shipment such as addresses, packaging type,
freight class, description of the goods and any special instructions.
There are 18 freight classes. They are determined by weight, dimensions, density, storage capability,
ease of handling, value and liability from instances like theft, damage, breakability and spoilage.
To help you determine freight class, we’ve developed a freight density calculator.
