Even though Platinum Services, Inc. was officially established in 2005, its history goes back many decades and multiple generations.

Joseph Smoot established Smoot Brothers Transfer in 1946, after completing 16 years of loyal service with the United States Army, the majority of which were spent serving in the European theater.

Joseph Smoot launched Guardian Moving and Storage in 1952, which became one of the first local Baltimore moving companies, providing local, long distance, and international moving services. They also specialized in providing long-term storage solutions for the Department of Defense.

Joseph Smoot and his wife raised five children in the Bel Air Edison district of Baltimore. Their three sons took over the day-to-day operations of the moving company in 1976. Under the leadership of the Smoot sons, Guardian Moving and Storage became the largest contractor for the Department of Defense, while providing many relocation services for federal, state, and local government agencies.

Continuing the family tradition, Mario Smoot, one of the three Smoot brothers, decided to launch a moving service that would further meet the personalized needs of individuals, businesses, and agencies.

With the assistance of the third generation of the Smoot family, Mario has been delivering the custom and enhanced moving and storage solutions that clients throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC need through Platinum Services and Cubby Mobile Storage.
