Piano Movers Extraordinaire is and always has been a family-owned company. Allen Stifter founded the company in 1976 with high quality standards from the beginning. After many years of piano moving, Allen decided to retire. In 1995, Curt Cameron, a longtime friend and employee of Allen, agreed to continue with the piano moving business. Curt and his wife, Doreen, then owned and operated Piano Movers Extraordinaire for many years. Curt moved pianos from 1980 until his retirement in 2022.

After a well-deserved retirement for Curt and Doreen, Curt’s son and daughter-in-law, Albert Cameron and Melissa Aszmann, took over the company in August 2022. Albert officially started moving pianos full time in 2000, but he had been on the truck with Curt learning the skills long before that. Albert and Melissa continue to run the busines with the same high quality standards that clients have come to expect from Piano Movers Extraordinaire.

Grand Piano Skids

A small but helpful service we provide is leaving our grand skids at customer’s homes. This is for people that need to leave their grand piano on its side for a time. This need usually arises during a new floor construction or other home remodel when the piano is temporarily removed from the room. Many remodel situations mean everything in the house is being moved to limited areas. For example, pianos are put in hallways, an extra bedroom, dining area or even sometimes in a garage. By having a skid, the grand piano can be stored safely on its side, which takes up less room.

When leaving our skid behind, we ask only to have the second move paid ahead as a down payment. This ensures that we will be back for our equipment, and of course, the return move of the piano.

Minneapolis/St Paul Climate-Controlled Storage

A popular service we offer is our climate-controlled piano storage. We have an insulated building that we also heat and/or dehumidify as the seasons change to keep it climate-controlled for the pianos. We store all kinds of uprights and all sizes of grands. We can store for short stays or for longer periods.

We understand that some people are in between homes for different lengths of time, so may just need somewhere to keep their piano while in transition. Whatever the reason, we can store your piano safely and securely for as little or as long as needed.

In general, we charge for a move to and from the storage facility. Our professional piano movers will make sure your piano arrives safely and returns to you in the same condition. Prices vary depending on piano style and moving areas. We charge monthly fees for the storage.
