This all got started when I had to move my own Mom, now 90, for the 4th time in 8 years! I could see how distressing it was for her. Will my furniture fit? What should I do with everything I can’t take? Will I be able to keep my email address? How will my friends know where I am or how to reach me? And all this was before the move began! Then there was the stressful confusion of finding new services, getting things put away and that hopeless pile of wires that had something to do with the T.V. …the phone…the DVD player…oh dear. Pretty overwhelming for this amazing woman who could tell you all about the history of WWII but did not understand a flip phone. She needed help! And after doing this drill four times, I had a pretty good idea just what kind of help she needed to remove the stress and make the move a positive experience. Thus, New Season Move Management was born.
As you grow older, it can be difficult to move yourself. So many wires and cords go with your phone, TV, and other electronics that it can be confusing to detangle the mess and reorganize your possessions. And it can be tiring to pack and move heavy furniture and boxes on your own.
At New Season Move Management, we specialize in senior move management in and around Port Townsend and Port Ludlow, WA. With us, you don’t have to worry about a thing; our moving help team can take care of every aspect of your move. After the move, we also provide estate sale and final cleaning services.
Before the Move
To prepare for your move, we’ll sit down with you and create a reasonable timeline for your relocation. We also take care of the following pre-move tasks:
Sorting and organizing of possessions
Packing
Developing a floor plan for your new home
Estate sales
Long-term and short-term storage organization
Mover scheduling
Confidential disposal of unnecessary documents and papers
When we pack your things, we’ll provide all the materials required to ease the process. We’ll also help you dispose of or donate any unwanted items to reduce clutter as you move into your new space.
Moving Day
On the day of the move, our experienced team will transport your items to your new home, and we’ll carefully unpack your possessions. Our moving-day services also include:
Placing furniture
Setting up electronics, such as your TV, computer, and stereo
Organizing belongings
Stocking your fridge and cupboards with what you need
Performing small tasks, such as hanging pictures and making your bed
We’ll take care of most of the work so you can relax and settle in to your new home.
After the Move
Once we’ve finished moving you in, we’ll take care of the final tasks, such as:
Cleaning your old residence
Selling or disposing of any remaining possessions
Before we leave, we’ll make sure you’re comfortable and that everything has been taken care of.
If you are receiving a non-binding estimate, the charges that your mover assesses on your
shipment must be based on the actual weight of the shipment. Your mover may not lawfully
assess transportation charges on shipments with non-binding estimates on cubic feet, volume,
time (hourly) or on any basis other than weight. Also, the federal regulations require that
shipment weights must be determined on a state certified scale with a copy of the weigh
master’s tickets provided to you in support of the final invoice.
The busiest times for moving companies are typically during the summer months, May-September.
If you are planning a move during that time you should make arrangements early.
Friday and Saturdays are big moving days so if you have flexibility in your schedule it can
be easier to get a date during the week rather than a weekend.
