We are Green
Our founder, Mark Ehrhardt, started Movers, Not Shakers! to change the way moving is done. We are New York’s first Green Movers. We use eco-friendly methods to reduce the carbon footprint of your move. Our affordable, waste-conscious methods make moving a more positive experience for clients, citizens, and community.
Biodiesel, Not Gas
We’re one of the few licensed movers using Biodiesel: a clean, renewable, carbon- neutral alternative to gas that cuts emissions by as much as 80%. It’s biodegradable, non- toxic, and ultimately better for our health. Our provider, Pureair Diesel by Diesel Direct, collects cooking oil from local restaurants, refines it, and provides us with the clean alternative.
Plastic Bins, Not Cardboard
We provide reusable bins so you can pack in a more efficient and eco-friendly manner. One week before your move, we deliver the bins to your door. On move day, we wrap your furniture and move the bins. Give us a call after the move and we’ll come pick up the empty bins.
Recycling, Not Garbage!
E-waste is responsible for 70% of the toxins found in landfills, and the textile industry is one of the leading producers of greenhouse gases. We reduce this impact by dropping off bags from Wearable Collections in advance of our moves. We donate your discarded items to our partners.
Flat Fee, Not Hourly
We won’t shake you down for a higher price. In New York City, time is money. That’s why hourly companies have no incentive to finish on time. Our experienced sales team will work with you to provide an accurate estimate. You owe it yourself to move forward with Movers, Not Shakers! New York’s first green moving company.
Local Moving
NYC moving requires know-how that you just can’t get overnight. Our drivers know the New York City metro area extremely well. We have a database of building requirements, so we may know what your building insists on before you do.
Long-Distance Moving
We handle all jobs ourselves from start to finish, and we deliver fast. No outsourcing to secondary providers. Because continuity is so important, the crew that packs and loads the truck is the crew that delivers it as well.
Strategy
When building an office move timeline, decide which day you want to start in your new space, and work backwards from there. Office moves usually happen on the weekend because IT can dismantle the network on a Friday afternoon, and get it back up by Monday morning. We work with several IT specialists, and can help you in this regard.
We Offer:

All loose items must be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage while moving. It is
recommended that you pack all items and leave the drawers empty.
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.
In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.
Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.
