MME Global Lines is a division of Midwest Motor Express, Inc. which has been in business since 1918. Midwest Motor Express is known for being the premier LTL freight carrier in the Upper Midwest and The Great Northwest having 32 service centers in 16 states and partnerships to be able to deliver to every door in the US. Midwest has taken the same philosophy of accessing and exceeding their customers’ expectations in the MME Global Lines division of the company.
Whether you need cargo transportation Port-to-Port, Door-to-Door, Full Container Load (FCL), or Less Than Container Load (LCL) we will work with you each step of the way to exceed your expectations and ensure a smooth transaction.
Midwest Motor Express Global Lines is a full service International Logistics provider.
Midwest Motor Express Global is an NVOCC (Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier) #02550NF.
Midwest Motor Express Global Lines has a licensed US Customs Broker on staff to make sure that every import/export need is met for our international customers.
We can do one piece of your importing or exporting process or the whole puzzle for you including picking your shipment up at the warehouses/factories overseas to delivery to your door here in the States and vise versa for exports.
We work with shipments of all sizes from less than container load to multiple containers. This is great for companies that don’t need a whole container of a product, but would like the cost benefit of importing the products themselves instead of going through the middle men here.
Do you need your shipment broken up and sent to multiple locations once it arrives in the US? We also have the capabilities to do that and currently do for some of our larger customers.
We offer single invoicing to our customers. This means that if you’re having us handle multiple items for you in either the importing/exporting process, you’ll only receive one invoice from us once all services are done.
MME Global offers both air and ocean shipments and we can get you quotes for any shipment you may have in a timely manner.
We have the online calculator for LCL ocean shipments that will generate a quote for you in moments.
LCL is an abbreviation for “Less than Container Load”. This shipping term is commonly used to describe an international ocean freight service that is designed for shipping boxed, crated, or palletized cargo from or to the US that can’t fit an entire 20 or 40 foot sea freight container.
There are many advantages for LCL international shipping including, but not limited to the below:
It sharply decreases shipping cost on smaller freight shipments
When you share a 40 foot sea freight container with one or more exporter/importer you pay for only the space used in the container, not the whole container
As a rule the transit time will be the same as if you would ship a full ocean freight container
Typically LCL ocean freight rates are calculated by volume(per cubic meter/cubic foot) but not by weight. Since cargo vessels capacity is not really limited by weight of cargo, but by the hold of the ship, in general weight of LCL freight is not a pricing factor
You can ship cargo of any size and form as long as it fits into a 40′ sea freight container with internal dimensions that follow:
Length – 39’5” = 12 meters
Width – 7’5” = 2.35 meters
Height – 7’10” = 2.39 meters
FCL is the abbreviation for “Full Container Load” used in the International Ocean Freight Industry for Exporting and Importing cargo to and from the US. This term is commonly used to describe an international sea freight service that is designed for ocean freight shipments of cargo where the shipper has exclusive use of a sea freight multimodal container. As a rule, ocean freight containers are loaded and sealed by the shipper at the shipper’s facility. Then it is transported by ocean, rail, and/or truck directly to the point of final destination.
NOTE: If you have cargo sufficient to fill a 20 foot sea freight container, we still recommend you to compare FCL ocean freight service to an LCL option. In certain circumstances, you may find that using international LCL ocean freight services for shipping goods overseas may be more convenient and cost-effective for you than FCL. Our online calculator will inform you if this would be the case and it would be more cost-effective to look at FCL prices.

As a US Freight Forwarder, we perform both exports and imports for shipping ocean and air freight from and to the USA. However, in respect to dealing with an International Ocean Freight Shipping Company the shipper should understand responsibilities of freight forwarders on his/her international ocean/air freight shipment depending on service selected: export or import and country which the freight forwarder represents.
Nowadays, international ocean/air freight carriers throughout the world are governed by a variety of the global international ocean/air freight industries standards and regulations. They also adopted and extended the rules promulgated by international ocean freight carriers organizations. In general, international ocean freight shipments are regulated regardless of country of origin and destination in safety, environmental protection, documents turnover, customs procedures, commercial practices, cargo liability, and other issues.
However different international ocean freight carriers in different countries have different approaches to ocean freight tendering at their origins and destination stations. Knowing basic details of local rules in countries of origin and destination gives you an advantage to plan your international ocean freight shipment and forecast shipping costs related to it.
U.S. OTI – Ocean Transportation Intermediaries or Ocean Freight Forwarders mostly concentrate on the U.S. Importing and Exporting Regulations and handle issues related to Export and Import ocean freight procedures in the USA. They also provide general details related to cargo tendering outside of the USA along with information for ocean freight carrier’s handling station’s agents overseas.
In respect to dealing with a U.S. Ocean Freight Forwarder on shipping ocean freight from or to the US, the shipper should be prepared to deal directly with an international ocean freight carrier/carrier’s agent, which will handle cargo on shippers’ behalf as soon as cargo is out of the U.S. Commerce zone.
You have the right to receive an estimate based on a physical (in-house) survey of your
shipment. Under the regulations, your mover must base your estimate (either binding,
non-binding, or not-to-exceed), on a physical survey of the household goods to be moved if
the goods are located with a 50-mile radius of your mover’s (or his agent’s) place of business.
You may elect to waive this requirement for a physical survey, but if you elect to do so,
you must sign a written waiver of your rights.
In all likelihood, you will find that an on-site estimate based on a physical survey
of the items that you plan on moving will be more accurate than an estimate that you
provide to your mover over the telephone or the Internet. So, unless circumstances warrant
(normally due to the time constraints of a short-notice move or because you are only shipping
a few items) think carefully before you elect to waive the required physical survey
of your shipment.
