Founded in 1936 by brothers Jake and Ray Millis, the company began as a small beer distributor. As the demand for their services grew, so did the company’s running area and reputation for timely, safe and professional services. It is through their reputation that the company’s slogan “Getting It There” came to be and has set Millis Transfer apart as one of the elite dry-van fleets on the road today.

Millis is headquartered in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and operates maintenance facilities in various locations, including Black River Falls and Richfield, Wisconsin; Eden, North Carolina; Albany and Cartersville, Georgia; Alvarado, Texas; and Trenton, Ohio.
Additionally, the company maintains drop yards in Ridgeway, Virginia; Albany and Atlanta, Georgia; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Alvarado, Texas.

Millis Transfer supports one of the top CDL-A training schools in the country, Millis Training Institute.
Established in 1989, MTI today boasts 6 convenient school locations where students receive one-on-one training with professional and experienced trainers during the four week course, followed by on the road training. Students earn $600 per week in our free apprenticeship program, starting on the first day of training, then earn $0.44 cpm while out with a trainer, and then go to .48 cpm when the student gets in their own truck.

Founded in 1936 as a small brokerage operation, Millis Trucking has evolved over the decades through careful expansion and strategic partnerships, such as a long-standing contract with the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company in the 1960s and 1970s. After changing their name to Millis Transfer in 1978, the company grew significantly in the 1980s with the acquisition of smaller companies. Starting with just 20 tractors and 40 trailers in 1982, Millis now operates a fleet of over 600 trucks and more than 2,000 trailers, maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and driver well-being.
