The beginning: After gaining his own experience in the moving industry, Men On The Move’s Founder, John Beyer, placed his first ad in the Long Island Pennysaver in September of 1985. Ever since the first phone call, every customer has been expected to be treated with the highest level of integrity! It is an inherent mentality throughout our staff that: “the good job you do today creates the job you do tomorrow.” This culture is the reason that over 70% of our work comes from repeat and referral business!
On the move: Thanks to the award-winning service that our moving division has provided since day one, the moving company has grown year over year. The roster of customers grew to include celebrities, politicians, and government organizations but most importantly thousands of Long Island families! Our crews have always been trained to care for every customer as if they were their favorite movie star, and our reputation shows it!
People need storage: After moving many customers into warehouse and storage facilities, it was evident that Men On The Move needed it’s own storage solutions! In 1991, Men On The Move acquired it’s first warehouse space right on Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park. A few years later in 1998, they opened their first self-storage facility a few blocks away on Carnation Avenue in Floral Park! Both the warehouse and self-storage solutions were a hit with their customers, and lead to the continued growth of the storage division at Men On The Move!
Today: In December of 2018, Men On The Move relocated their headquarters from Floral Park to Woodbury! This new location includes brand new Class-A Self-Storage , Warehouse Storage, and is where they dispatch their fleet of moving trucks! In addition to their headquarters, Men On The Move recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation of their 150,000sf Farmingdale Self-Storage location, and is working on developing their 80,000sf Deer Park Self-Storage location as well! With the experience, the equipment, and the space to help you with all your moving and storage needs, it has never been more appropriate to say, “When you’re ready to move, trust the Men!”

Award-Winning Service Since 1985
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.
In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.
Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.
Appliances such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators must be disconnected, and the washer
must have a stabilizer installed. Again, your estimator can help you understand how these
items are properly serviced. All local moving companies have business relationships with
local service providers that handle this type of service, however full service moving
companies and national moving companies will also be able to provide all of the moving
services you require. Be sure you know who your mover will be using, as you will need to let
these people into your home to provide the service.
