It all began back in 1961 when Robert and Madeline Meelheim put $2000 down on the old Barnegat Bay Ice House in Toms River and bought their first truck, a covered wagon straight truck affectionately known as ‘Betsy’. Robert and Madeline made a commitment from the beginning to base their moving and storage company on trust and reputation, so when it came time to decide what to paint on the truck, they put their very own name on the line: Meelheim’s Transfer & Storage.

A lot has changed since those early days when Aunt Ann, who used to letter fire and beer trucks, put the Meelheims’ name on that first truck. ‘Betsy’ would be joined by ‘Judy’, and one truck and three employees would grow to become the oldest locally owned and most trusted moving company NJ. Meelheim’s is now entering its 6th decade of moving area businesses, government and residents in Ocean County and throughout New Jersey.
