ABOUT US:
We deal with heartbeats and tight deadlines on a daily basis…
Lew Thompson & Son Trucking, Inc. calls the beautiful Ozark Mountains in Huntsville, AR home.
Where It Began
Lew Thompson always had a fascination with trucking. He started with humble beginnings buying his first truck in 1983, hauling turkeys for Butterball. The first Lew Thompson office was jokingly described as a “phone booth” due to it’s small size and limited resources in downtown Huntsville. In the spring of 2018, LT’s opened it’s expandad office space that more than doubled the square footage of their home office in Huntsville. This office houses the overall company operations from payroll to safety and human resources.
Company Growth
As time went on he purchased 5 new trucks to begin his fleet. As Butterball grew their business so did Lew Thompson Trucking. The company quickly established a reputation for providing excellent customer service and for getting the job done.
Today
His son, Josh Thompson, is now the President of the company, changing the name to Lew Thompson & Son Trucking, Inc. As of today, Lew Thompson & Son Trucking, Inc. has over 230 trucks and 400 trailers.
We are invovled in every step of the process for poultry production. We start by delivering the day old poults from the hatchery to the farms. We then have feed delivery drivers that keep the birds fed as the farmers raise them. We also employ live haul drivers who transport the matured birds from the farm to the processing plant. Finally, we transport the finished product from the plant to grocery stores, distribution centers and cold storage facilities by utilizing our reefer division. Think of all the transportation and planning involved in getting your Thanksgiving turkey from the farm to your table!

FTL stands for Full Truckload. A shipment that is over 10,000lb or takes up an entire truck by
itself is considered Full Truckload. One of the main characteristic of an FTL Services is that it
will take your shipment on a long haul, making one trip from point A to Point B without transferring
the cargo.
LTL stands for Less Than Truckload. If you have 200 pounds of freight to transport, you’ve got an LTL
shipment. It takes just a section of the truck and the cargo is safely consolidated with other shipments
that may be picked up and distributed in the same area.
Adjustments can be costly, but can mostly be avoided with accurate information.
Common adjustments occur around oversized items (more than 12 feet in length), lift-gates,
limited delivery access, residential fees, reclassifications and changes to the bill of lading.
