Residential
Local moving is our basic service and generally refers to transport within 100 km of Montreal. It is characterized by short moving distances, short planning cycles, and relatively simple packing, and can be done in partial, most of which can be completed on the same day.
Local movings are mainly charged by the hour, plus a fixed amount of travel time and additional fees for special items. Although it seems simple, each step of the process is closely interlinked: The elevators’ connection between buildings, parking reservations, booking of rental storage, etc. Especially during the Quebec moving season, when a large number of moving requests applied in a short period of time, all of these requires an advance planning, preparation, and scheduling.
Commercial
Commercial moving is both simple and complex, for a general office or a warehouse move, it is basically the same as a local household moving. The complexity of commercial moving is mainly because of the different industries, the size of the move, the specificity of the items to be moved, the different operating environments, etc.
Storage Service
The use of storage is very common in a moving, it often occurs before and after house renovation, before the delivery to a new house, temporary storage of extra items and so on. Before reaching the final location, there may be one or more temporary storage with various stay period. The following aspects should be considered when using storage services.
Special Items
In local moving and commercial moving we often encounter some special items that need to be moved, such as upright pianos and grand pianos, large safe boxes, gun cases, pool tables, and outdoor bathtubs; commercial printers, commercial freezers and so on.
These items are characterized by large shapes, heavy weights, fragile, and if they are not handled with specific tools and special methods, the problems that arise in moving will damage these items in a minor or serious way, damage the facilities in the house or even personal safety. With the use of correct tools and handling methods, we can promise a successful moving service. Of course, we will also charge some special handling fees for these special items.
All loose items must be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage while moving. It is
recommended that you pack all items and leave the drawers empty.
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.
In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.
Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.
