The Joyce Teams commitment to our customers has propelled the organization to expansion throughout the United States. Joyce operated moving and storage facilities are located in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Indiana, Florida, Texas & California.
Whether you are moving locally, across the country, or around the globe, we provide customized service. Our streamlined approach is less prone to error and gives us direct responsibility every step of the way, including hauling, invoicing and claim settlements. Many of the larger van lines do not cover all services in house. We take pride in our independence for controlling the complete process.
Our Core business values were designed with one thing in mind: a professional and organized move to your new home. We look forward to working with you and providing a stress-free relocation to your new community. Our goal is to build customers for life.
Local Moving Services
When moving locally, the cost is based on the time it takes to load and deliver or, alternatively, by the weight of your load. Upon contacting Joyce Van Lines, a moving consultant will help to determine the size of the truck needed, best logistics, equipment and pricing.
Time-Based Moving
The cost to do a local move is based on the time that it takes for the movers to load and deliver your belongings. The hourly rate is based on the number of movers and trucks we assign to your move. Determining the right size crew is important. Too many movers is wasteful, and too few movers is inefficient. Our goal is to work during normal business hours, and to avoid working the movers to the point of fatigue.
Once we have established the right size crew for your move, the time starts when we begin loading, and ends when we are finished delivering. If yours is a multi-day move, we add the time over the days we work. A predetermined travel allowance is added to cover the time it takes our crew to arrive at your origin address and to return at the end of the day.
The cost for us to pack a few cartons on a time-based move is based on the time we take to pack, plus the cost of the materials. For full packing, we charge not by time, but on a per-box schedule, and the packing is normally done the day before your move. Your Joyce representative will work closely with you to assure that the most efficient and cost-effective plan is in place for a successful move, and a delightful experience for all.
Weight-Based Moving
Based on the actual weight of your furniture and boxes and the distance to your new home. When the move is over 100 miles, weight-based moving is the standard. The actual weight is determined by weighing the truck before and after your things have been loaded onto it. The difference between these two weights will be your shipping weight.
Your Joyce Van Lines representative will determine the most economical type of pricing for your move, and you can be assured that all furniture will be prepared for the move with the utmost care using quilted moving pads and paper/stretch wrapping on all upholstered furniture.
Once you book your move with Joyce Van Lines, you will be provided with an internal customer support point person who will be available to assist you throughout your move. Communication and attention to all details enables us to provide you with the service you should expect and deserve. Your move coordinator will call you the day prior to your move to confirm crew arrival time and answer any questions that you may have. All details will be reviewed with you at this time and any concerns addressed.
Interstate Moving
The cost to make an interstate move is based on the weight of your load, and the distance to your new home. The moving truck is weighed before and after your belongings have been loaded to determine the actual weight used to calculate final charges.
As an independent, licensed 48-state carrier, Joyce Van Lines, Inc. is strategically positioned throughout the U.S., capable of loading and delivering to all points with guaranteed dates. Upon contacting Joyce Van Lines, a moving consultant will help by estimating the weight of your load, and by creating a cost-effective move plan that includes the size of the truck needed, the best logistics, equipment and pricing.
Transportation includes padding, loading, transporting, inside delivery and re-assembly of any furniture that we disassembled. The cost to make an interstate move is based on the weight of your belongings and the distance they travel. The shipment weight is determined by weighing the moving van before and after loading. The difference between the tare weight and gross weight determines the net weight of your belongings, and is used to calculate your final charges. Joyce Van Lines welcomes you to view the weighting of your moving truck at origin because this eliminates any question over the net weight of your load, and the need for a re-weigh at destination.

You have the right to receive an estimate based on a physical (in-house) survey of your
shipment. Under the regulations, your mover must base your estimate (either binding,
non-binding, or not-to-exceed), on a physical survey of the household goods to be moved if
the goods are located with a 50-mile radius of your mover’s (or his agent’s) place of business.
You may elect to waive this requirement for a physical survey, but if you elect to do so,
you must sign a written waiver of your rights.
In all likelihood, you will find that an on-site estimate based on a physical survey
of the items that you plan on moving will be more accurate than an estimate that you
provide to your mover over the telephone or the Internet. So, unless circumstances warrant
(normally due to the time constraints of a short-notice move or because you are only shipping
a few items) think carefully before you elect to waive the required physical survey
of your shipment.
