How We Work
Hoffberger Moving Services wants to make your move as cost effective and hassle-free as possible with minimal disruptions to your business. Your move will be tracked on our advanced computer systems from start to finish to help facilitate open communication between our team and your staff. Our services include:
Pre-Move Planning: A successful move requires careful pre-move planning to minimize disruptions to your business. Our move team will work with you to create a comprehensive plan for your relocation.
Move Management: Some clients prefer that we manage and coordinate all aspects of the move including pre-move planning, RFP’s, furniture/equipment plans, move meetings, labeling, actual relocation and post-move fine tuning.
Moving Instructions: We will provide detailed verbal and written move instructions, including packing and labeling instructions, before every move.
Packing: Our team is capable of packing your entire business, laboratory or office. Or, as some clients prefer, you can pack your desks and we will do the rest.
Crating: For artwork, glass or granite, we can build custom designed crates to protect your fragile items.
New Furniture/Equipment Storage and Installation: When you order new furniture or equipment, we can store it in our warehouse facilities and install it when you are ready.
Property Protection (Old/New Spaces): We prepare your facilities with pads, Masonite or other protective materials to cover sensitive flooring surfaces (marble, granite, slate, tile, hardwood.) Your carpeting can be protected with a plastic that bonds to the carpet to prevent damage. The walls, doors and elevators can be covered with reusable corrugated cardboard and pads.
Systems Furniture Assembly/Reconfiguration: Should you require systems furniture assembly, disassembly, or reconfiguration in another space, we have the know-how to help.
Electronics Recycling: The electronics recycling industry is rapidly changing, and we can make recommendations to help you reuse or recycle your unwanted equipment. Consider donating computers, laptops, copiers and other equipment in good, working condition to non-profits and reuse programs. Otherwise, we can help you find responsible electronic recyclers in your area.
Furniture Recycling/Disposal of Excess Inventory: We can help you with the many options for the disposal, donation or recycling of unwanted desks, files, etc.
Heavy Equipment Relocation: We have extensive experience moving heavy equipment. We have moved a 40,000-square-foot machine shop and countless pieces of large hospital equipment including anechoic chambers and mass spectrometers.
Sensitive Electrical Equipment: We know the complexities of protecting and moving sensitive electrical equipment. We know when to use special anti-static wrapping and packaging; we know which specialized pieces of moving equipment to use for relocation; and we know when to consult with the equipment supplier for pre-move and post-move servicing.
Computer/Technical: We have moved thousands of personal computers. After we are certain that you have backed up your data we will:
Disconnect and protect your monitors with padded anti-static covers.
Place all of the computer components and accessories in special, protective computer bags.
Label and pack everything in our protective equipment carts.
Reconnect the computers in your new space.
Post-Move Fine Tuning/Clean Out: After move in, we can assist with unpacking; shifting furniture and files; disposal of unwanted items; removal of empty crates, book carts, boxes and equipment; clean out of old space; and any other tasks necessary to complete a hassle-free move.
Our Storage Facilities: Clean, Safe and Secure
Hoffberger Moving Services’ main facility, with 40,000 square feet of clean, secure storage, is less than one-quarter of a mile from Interstate 95 in downtown Baltimore. We have an additional climate-controlled facility in Central Baltimore County.
Our two locations allow us to easily serve our customers’ needs in the Mid-Atlantic region including Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia.
If you have files and records, excess equipment, furniture, seasonal items, or temporary inventory, Hoffberger Moving Services can handle all of your organization’s storage needs including:
Long & Short-Term Storage: We have the capabilities to store all of your furniture, equipment and files for as long as necessary depending on the logistics of your move.
Equipment Storage: Our climate-controlled warehouse space ensures the safe storage of even the most sensitive electronic equipment, laboratory equipment and museum exhibits.
Furniture Storage: Many clients take advantage of the convenience of storing their new or existing furniture with us while their new office space is being prepared. Likewise, if you are planning a short-term, interim move, we can store your furniture until you are ready to move into a permanent location.
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.
In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.
Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.
All loose items must be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage while moving. It is
recommended that you pack all items and leave the drawers empty.
