Our History
Collin & Linda Hightower started Hightower Trucking, Inc. (HTI) as a side business on October 6th 2003. HTI at that time offered equipment leasing options to low credit score drivers who were skilled at operating a trucking company, but not able to handle the financial trials of running their own business.
In September of 2010 Collin lost his position as a Sales Manager for a local Las Vegas sand and gravel company after the company he worked for was forced to close its doors. Hightower Trucking identified a market for sand and gravel deliveries and haul off of construction debris left in the wake of several larger bankrupt trucking companies. Most of the trucking companies that survived concentrated on the larger projects and ignored the smaller and medium size customers which Hightower Trucking targets.
On October 1st, 2010 Hightower Trucking was born after Collin and Linda cashed out their retirement and life savings in order to fund the business. Today HTI is an established company with 5 full time employees, 20 contractor employees and is on pace for 2.7 million dollars in annual sales for 2016. HTI offers refined structural sand and gravel products, backhaul recycling and disposal of construction debris in addition to trucking, equipment and loading services.
Hightower Trucking has grown every year since it transitioned to a full-fledged sand and gravel trucking and brokerage company. Our main focus is family business to family business giving a personal touch to customer service. Great question and something our team of experts can help you determine. LTL is typically ideal for
freight shipments larger than parcel or small package, but short of the space required of a
full truckload shipments. However, other factors like distance and value may play into the decision.
FTL stands for Full Truckload. A shipment that is over 10,000lb or takes up an entire truck by
itself is considered Full Truckload. One of the main characteristic of an FTL Services is that it
will take your shipment on a long haul, making one trip from point A to Point B without transferring
the cargo.
LTL stands for Less Than Truckload. If you have 200 pounds of freight to transport, you’ve got an LTL
shipment. It takes just a section of the truck and the cargo is safely consolidated with other shipments
that may be picked up and distributed in the same area.
