When Jimmy Clark purchased Guy M. Turner in 1985, the company consisted of about four cranes, two trucks, and five rigging crews. Thirty years later, we’ve expanded to become one of the largest and most recognized crane, rigging, and heavy/specialized transportation companies in the United States.

Nowadays, we operate out of a 50,000-square-foot facility that spans over 25 acres. And we need the space: With more than 60 cranes, 15 rigging crews, multiple-axle rigs capable of hauling up to 250,000 lbs., and a vast array of miscellaneous heavy equipment, we’re not going to fit in any old backyard.

But it’s not just our space that has expanded. As the times changed, we also expanded our range of services to accommodate the growing needs of our clients. We offer plant relocation, heavy hauling, specialized hauling, heavy rigging, millwright and crane services, rigging, electrical installation, and warehousing. And we’re constantly seeking out new ways to refine our processes and grow even further.

One thing hasn’t changed: Our commitment to treating people with respect. For our clients, that means following through on our promises. For our employees, that means rewarding experience, and understanding that the most important thing in life is family.

It means using high-quality, well-serviced machines from the most trusted manufacturers, backed by decades of experience. It means visiting factories in person to examine the manufacturing processes used to create our machines. It means not purchasing a piece of equipment until we’re certain that it’s strong, capable, and safe. Because when you’re hauling a 200-ton machine down a highway at 60 miles per hour or lifting thousands of pounds in the air, there’s no room for mistakes.

We’re proud of the faith our customers have placed in us throughout the years. We’re proud that we are now one of the most recognized crane, rigging, and heavy/specialized transportation companies in the country. But most of all, we’re proud of the work we do every single day—from lifting an air conditioning unit onto a rooftop, to hauling a transformer to its final destination. In that sense, we’re still the same company we were in 1984.

We own one of the largest fleets of specialized equipment in the country.
We are an asset-based company; all our company-owned equipment is professionally maintained in-house for safety and reliability. We invest in the newest trailers and keep a variety of configurations to meet specific requirements. Whether it is a superload, a wide load, or just a legal load, we have the equipment to haul it.

Our warehouses are strategically located in transportation hubs.
Our industrial warehouses in Greensboro, NC, and Rock Hill, SC (just outside Charlotte, NC), are both located near major highways for easy access, and each offers over 500,000 square feet of space.

Turnkey storage solutions for plant relocation or any other need.
Many of our customers rely on our warehousing services to facilitate their plant relocations. We make the process more efficient by providing off-site storage, sequential staging and just-in-time delivery of equipment and materials. But our warehousing services meet many other needs as well.

Q What is an order for service?

All movers are required to prepare an order for service before they transport your shipment.
The order for service provides you with written confirmation of the moving services that you
requested to be performed in conjunction with your shipment. It also lists the agreed upon
dates for the pickup and delivery of your shipment and amount of valuation that you requested,
along with any special services that you ordered.
It also features a place and telephone number where the mover can contact you during the move.

Additionally, the order for service shows the charges that you will be assessed for your
household move or corporate relocation. If you are moving under a non-binding estimate,
the order for service will indicate the amount of the estimated non-binding charges,
the method of payment for the charges and, in cases where the actual charges exceed the
non-binding estimate, the maximum amount that you are required to pay at the time of delivery
in order to obtain possession of your shipment (you will have 30 days following delivery to
pay the balance of the charges due). If you are moving under a binding estimate,
the order for service will show the charges that you will be required to pay at delivery,
based on the binding estimate and the terms of payment. You and your mover must sign the
order for service.

Q Can I pack anything in the drawers of my dresser or desk?

All loose items must be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage while moving. It is
recommended that you pack all items and leave the drawers empty.
