Globe Moving & Storage Ltd. offers three payment options on long distance moves:
Cash on Delivery: The Van Operator is required to collect payment for your move before your shipment is unloaded. “Cash on Delivery” payments must be made by cash, bank draft, certified cheque or money order.
Credit Card: Globe accepts VISA, MasterCard and American Express. Arrangements for this must be made in advance of moving day through your Globe agent at origin so that they have time to obtain the approval from the credit card company.
Corporate Invoicing: If your employer is paying for your move, Globe will be happy to invoice the company for our services. A purchase order or letter of authority must be submitted to your Globe agent at origin. Granting of credit is subject to the normal credit checks and approval process.
Charges for local moves are normally based on an hourly rate. The hourly rate will depend on the size of truck, number of crew required to service your move, and the time of year you are moving.
Be sure to let your Globe agent know if you are moving appliances and bulky items such as a piano, hot tub or boat. If you live in an apartment or condo, be sure to book the elevator as far in advance as possible as there may be other people moving in and out that day.
Professional packing service is also available on local moves. If you are doing some or all of the packing yourself, your Globe agent can provide you with cartons specially designed for moving at an additional cost.
Gently used packing cartons are also available at a reduced cost.
Globe Moving & Storage works closely with many of North America’s largest corporations and their transferring employees.
We are sensitive to the special nature of corporate relocation’s and view our relationship with our clients as a true partnership.
If your new home isn’t ready for occupancy, your household goods may be stored in an Globe Moving company’s warehouse at an additional charge until you are ready to accept them.
All Globe moving company warehouses are clean, modern, climate controlled facilities which are specifically designed for maximum safety. These warehouses are government approved, heated, pest-controlled, and sprinklered with proper alarms and security devices.
Each piece of your shipment will be carefully inventoried and inspected for transit damage that may have occurred on the move between your residence and the warehouse.
Your possessions will be carefully wrapped in protective storage blankets and placed inside clean, wooden, dust-free storage vaults. Your name and the number of storage vaults assigned to your shipment will be affixed to the exterior of the vaults and this same information will be entered into an internal tracking system.
Special racking is used in the warehouse to store sofas and other large upholstered items. Each piece will be wrapped in clean, heavy-duty clear plastic for extra protection. Should you require access to your storage vaults during the storage period, this can be arranged through your local Globe moving company for a nominal fee.
When long distance shipments are delivered to a warehouse for storage (storage-in-transit) they can remain under the Atlas long distance move contract for up to 60 days. Storage for more than 60 days means that your shipment will be converted to a long-term storage contract.
Globe’s goal is to keep your valued possessions safe until you are ready to have them moved to your new home.
Local (intrastate) moves are generally based on a per-hour cost for the personnel and
the number of vehicles that the mover provides (up to a certain distance, with longer
distances based on the weight of your shipment and the mileage it is transported) and the
level of liability that the mover will cover in the event of loss or damage is generally
less than would apply for an interstate move.
Once you have compiled a list of movers, inform them of the destination and timing of your
move. Ask them about the types of services they offer. Also ask them to explain their
estimates in detail and to give you a copy. If any company refuses to give you a written
estimate, you should eliminate them from consideration. Then carefully compare to see which
mover best suits your needs and budget.
The cost of your move will be based on the actual weight of your belongings and the distance
they are shipped, plus the amount of packing and other services that you require.
To help you anticipate the cost of your move, movers will give you an estimate of the price.
Be sure to get written estimates from at least 3 different movers so that you can compare
their services and prices.
