Founded in 1964, Globe Storage & Moving Co. is a premier, New York City-based commercial moving company that specializes in relocations of all scales and complexities. With an experienced staff and a drive to leave each and every customer satisfied, we can assure you that Globe will handle your next relocation with the care and precise execution that we pride ourselves on.

In 1964, Globe’s President and Founder, Vincent Cibrano, presented a blueprint for success to his employees:

This formula proved to be the foundation of which Globe Storage & Moving Co. was built upon, and it quickly allowed us to ascend to the forefront of New York City’s competitive commercial moving and storage industry. Globe’s ingenuity was most evident in 1969 when, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, one of New York City’s largest legal firms, presented a unique challenge to all prospective moving companies: to come up with a method of relocating their large library and records departments, without the client losing accessibility to these items during the extensive packing and preparation phase.

Globe responded to this unique requirement with the development of the mobile carrier; a five-shelved bookcase on wheels. As a result, librarians and file room personnel maintained access to books and records up to the time just prior to their relocation. Soon after, with the resounding success of the Paul, Weiss relocation, the mobile carrier became the industry standard for all library and file room moves.

From that successful experience, Globe established a reputation as the industry leader in law firm relocations, undertaking similar projects in the ensuing years for such prominent firms as Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom; Debevoise & Plimpton; Stroock, Stroock & Lavan; and Cadwalder, Wickersham & Taft.

While we did initially receive widespread recognition for our work in the legal sector – and, to this day, we still remain the premier choice for a majority of the largest law firms in New York City – the legal field is but one industry that we have lent our moving expertise to.

For over half a century, Globe has proudly partnered with companies that range from powerhouse financial institutions, such as Goldman Sachs, to publishing giants like McGraw Hill & Companies.

Today, our success reflects back to what Vincent Cibrano was looking to accomplish when he decided to go into business over fifty years ago. With Globe remaining family owned and operated since our inception, Mr. Cibrano’s vision has remained alive, and continues to be the values in which we pride ourselves on.

Though Globe has now reached into the second and third generation of family members, the goal remains the same: provide a superior moving and storage service with honesty and integrity, and make pride and hard work the cornerstone of our business.

Storage

In addition to our commercial moving services, Globe has the ability to store your company’s valuable possessions, including records, furniture, electronics, and everything in between. To better accommodate our New York City area clientele, Globe has a storage facility located in Queens. Our warehouses are managed by professionals who have upwards of ten years of experience in the field. Furthermore, our facility is protected by state-of-the-art security systems, ensuring the safety of your company’s valuables. For your convenience, we will also provide you with your own login, where you will be able to securely manage your assets, place orders, and track items directly through our website. Here at Globe we understand just how valuable your company’s assets are; because of this, we take every necessary step to allow our clients to feel comfortable leaving their possessions in our very capable hands.

Under the direction of your designated Project Manager, our experienced, unionized workers will then carefully handle the packing, relocating, and unpacking of your valuable office possessions. Globe is also able to offer additional move services, such as record shredding, furniture installation and liquidation, as well as the disconnection and reinstallation of technology, all to aid in a seamless transition into your new space. Here at Globe we understand the importance of completing a move with little inconvenience to your staff and no interruption to your business. Due to this, we promise that your job will be completed with our trademark care and precision that we have come to pride ourselves on.

Q What should I do with my jewelry and other valuable items?

Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.

In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.

Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.

Q How do I prepare my appliances for moving?

Appliances such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators must be disconnected, and the washer
must have a stabilizer installed. Again, your estimator can help you understand how these
items are properly serviced. All local moving companies have business relationships with
local service providers that handle this type of service, however full service moving
companies and national moving companies will also be able to provide all of the moving
services you require. Be sure you know who your mover will be using, as you will need to let
these people into your home to provide the service.
