LTL FREIGHT SHIPPING SERVICES
LTL freight shipping stands for less-than-truckload. As the name suggests, LTL shipments are smaller than (FTL) full truckload shipments. LTL shipments typically weigh between 150 and 10,000 pounds.

LTL freight shipping is the perfect solution shipping needs of businesses that need to ship large or heavy items, but don’t have the volume to justify a full truckload shipment. LTL (less than truckload) shipments are consolidated with other LTL freight shipments going to the same general area, which helps keep costs low. Plus, you’ll only pay for the space your LTL shipment occupies on the truck, so you won’t have any wasted space or unused capacity fees.

These small shipments usually occupy up to 1/3 of the floor space on a typical 53’ trailer and are transported along with shipments from the common carrier’s other clients.

This LTL shipping method is used to most cost-effectively get products to the end client (the receiver), usually in other states, and not get high LTL freight shipping quotes

Hazardous materials (hazmat) are any products that contain solid or liquid goods that can be potentially dangerous for humans, animals, or the environment.

In transportation, hazardous materials are classified by different classes and packing groups and you need to properly classify your shipment. The information will depend on the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) placard, or the United Nations (UN) number, which are the digits identifying what type of dangerous goods (such as explosives, flammable liquids, toxic substances, etc.) are being transported. This UN number, along with the hazmat class and packing group, will provide carriers with a clear idea of how they must handle every hazmat item and ensure shipping for all hazardous materials. For proper shipping, this information must be noted on the paperwork and the bill of lading (BOL) that shippers provide to the drivers / carriers upon the pick up of an item.

Q How should I package my items?

When shipping goods, it’s always important to minimize movement. Pack crates or boxes as full
as possible, with heavier items on the bottom. If the crate is not filled, use packing material
to plug the empty spaces.

Q How are freight shipments tracked?

Freight service providers offer tracking services online to access a shipment’s status 24/7
from your computer or mobile device. You can track a shipment with a BOL number, but you can often
access the shipment’s location with the pro number, PO number, shipment reference number and shipment
number as well.
