Our Company History
We started serving our customers back in 1987, as a small company called Ideal Transportation. Overtime, we have expanded into a corporation with more diverse capabilities due to the partnerships we have built with some of the largest manufacturers in the industry. Our acquisition of Baker Transport has also helped us to be the extraordinary corporation we are today. Foremost Transport has become a leader in the transportation industry. With operating authority in the continental United States and Canada, along with four strategically placed distribution centers nationwide, we take pride in providing our customers with fast and dependable services.
What is a bill of lading?
The bill of lading (BOL) acts as an invoicing receipt in the shipping industry, and with many
motor carriers, the BOL is the contract of carriage between that motor carrier and the shipper.
It includes important information related to the shipment such as addresses, packaging type,
freight class, description of the goods and any special instructions.
How do I determine freight class?
There are 18 freight classes. They are determined by weight, dimensions, density, storage capability,
ease of handling, value and liability from instances like theft, damage, breakability and spoilage.
