In 1980 Earl Ennis decided to get back into trucking and bought a brand new Peterbilt cab-over, and Ennis Trucking was founded.
Family owned and operated, service is what we sell with courteous, professional drivers and a variety of trailers to fit your specific shipping needs.
What We Do
Our professional drivers are knowledgeable and courteous, and genuinely care about safely delivering the customers cargo as scheduled. All drivers meet DOT medical certification and are “self-certified” as required by the state of Michigan. Drivers are also subject to quarterly random drug and alcohol testing.
Our entire fleet is annually inspected by certified mechanics to meet strict Department of Transportation requirements.
Our safety rating with the FMCSA is at the highest level that they have.
Seven Peterbilt tractors make up the company owned power division. Our engines are all Caterpillar, Paccar and Detroit Diesel. We have one day cab and the rest sleepers. All are of the conventional style.
Our multi-axle trailers allow us to deliver loads of up to 75,000 lbs on a 4 axle dry van and 60,000 lbs on a three axle dry van or refrigerated trailer within the state of Michigan.
Utility trailers make up our entire dry van division. All of these vehicles are 53′ in length and several have “E-track” for enhanced load securement.
Our refrigerated trailers are also Utility trailers with Thermo King units. All trailers are 53′ in length and 102′ wide, with ribbed and solid floors. We are happy to “pre-cool” trailers based on the needs of our customers.
Dry Storage
In 2004 Earl Ennis III purchased a combination cross dock and office building in Traverse City. The existing facility was 2,500 square feet with 12 semi-dock doors and one smaller 8’ overhead door and offices. At the time Earl held his builder’s license and commenced about adding on a 12,000 square foot heated warehouse and Ennis Dry Storage Facility, LLC began operations. The facility is located at 2415 Diamond Drive in Traverse City just off Cass Road and is easily accessible by semi-tractor trailer rigs.
