Professional Moving Services Since 1976
EDC Moving Systems was established in 1976 with the idea of providing transportation and warehousing to the electronic and high value equipment industry. Our goals were to be dependable, predictable, flexible and competitive. We realize that there is a distance that separates you from your customers. It can be measured in miles.
It can be measured in time. It can be measured in the potential for damages to your product during delivery and installation. EDC provides transportation and warehousing services throughout the state of Texas. With offices in Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin, EDC Moving Systems has more than 200 employees, a fleet of over 75 trucks and operates 4 modern warehouses with nearly 400,000 square feet and delivers throughout the world.
Office Moving Services
Labeling is the most important part of the pre-move phase. Each employee or work area will be assigned a number and color. Moving tags will have to be affixed to all items to be moved. Your move consultant will instruct your staff on the proper method of affixing moving tags to furniture, boxes, cabinets, etc. We will also supply “DO NOT MOVE” tags for furniture and effects not included in the relocation.
Residential Movers
EDC Moving Systems will provide full packing services to you should you decide not to self pack or your employer authorizes that we perform this service for you. This means that we will assign an experienced pack crew to your relocation and all items to be packed will be packed, marked, tagged and inventoried.
International Moving
LEADING THE INDUSTRY AS AN INTERNATIONAL MOVER – EDC MOVING SYSTEMS
Finding international movers in Houston, TX isn’t difficult. Finding “Experienced” International Movers in Houston, Tx is a challenge. There are many challenges associated with international moves that aren’t present with a domestic move. Passports, visas, medical records, financial and insurance matters – these are just a few. Finding the right international moving and storage company is critical to the success of your relocation.
Warehouse
STORAGE SERVICES
Our warehouses are clean and secure (with monitored burglar/fire alarm systems) and meets the rigid criteria required for storing the household goods of U.S. Military personnel.
Storage for a household goods move may be required in a couple of different ways:
Permanent Storage – required if you are going to be in storage for more than 6 months. You are moving and want to put partial or everything in storage until plans are made as to your future home or moving overseas and storing everything until your return to the States. A lot of different scenarios could apply here.
SIT – Storage in Transit – temporary storage while shipment is in transit from origin to destination. Home is not ready to move into at destination, must leave town before your home sells, again any scenario could apply here.
In both situations your household goods will be stored in vaults and stored at the warehouse until a driver has been assigned to load your shipment for delivery to destination. In some instances your household goods may be stored at destination and then delivered.
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.
In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.
Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.
Appliances such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators must be disconnected, and the washer
must have a stabilizer installed. Again, your estimator can help you understand how these
items are properly serviced. All local moving companies have business relationships with
local service providers that handle this type of service, however full service moving
companies and national moving companies will also be able to provide all of the moving
services you require. Be sure you know who your mover will be using, as you will need to let
these people into your home to provide the service.
