Our Story
DSR launched in 1993 with a contract from Whirlpool Corporation, providing storage, delivery and appliance installations for Hawaii’s residential and commercial markets. Over the past two decades, we’ve grown into a multi-faceted enterprise that now offers warehousing, transportation and distribution services to more than 60 clients, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
Our mission has always been to provide superior, professional service and to accommodate to whatever needs our customers have by devising cost-efficient options. We specialize in creating solid infrastructures that allow our clients to successfully do business in the islands.
What We Do
In 2004, DSR expanded its operations by starting a warehousing and trucking division, assisting out-of-state companies who do business in Hawaii, but don’t have their own warehouses and trucks. We’re now one of the state’s largest third-party logistics providers. In 2008, we acquired Marlin Distributors, which purchases goods and distributes them to local retailers. We also are a sub-contractor for a federal contractor who services the Air Force, Navy and Army.
All of our divisions can be contracted individually or collectively, and we’ll tailor services to your specific needs. We’re always willing to work out appropriate solutions for our clients.
Evolving & Evolutionary
In 2013, we celebrated our 20th anniversary, which marked yet another milestone for our ever-growing company. After starting out with just 10 employees, we now have more than 80 people on our roster.
To remain one of the leaders in our field, we stay on top of the latest technology and regularly modernize our operations. Currently, we are implementing a new, cutting-edge software system; we’ve added more battery-operated forklifts; and we’ve also acquired a new fleet of eco-friendly, fuel-efficient trucks. We’re constantly advancing, so your business can too.
Warehousing
As one of the largest 3PL (third-party logistics) providers in Hawaii, we assist companies that conduct business in the islands, but are looking to offset the high cost of operating their own warehouses and managing workers. With some 150,000-square-feet of warehouse space on Oahu, our services include picking up products, providing storage and delivering goods to various destinations. We now warehouse a wide range of products, including appliances, plastics, electronics, pet products, food and beverages and medical supplies.
Transportation
We provide comprehensive, professional transportation solutions, whether it’s delivering from a warehouse or hauling oversized containers. We have more than 50 vehicles in our fleet, including P-vans, box vans, flatbeds, tractors and trailers, and we recently upgraded our fleet, acquiring new eco-friendly and fuel-efficient trucks. We offer a range of truck sizes, and we can haul everything from concrete slabs to lumber and even shipping containers for both residential and commercial deliveries. If goods need to be transported to the Neighbor Islands, we will facilitate the delivery.
Distribution
In 2008, we acquired Marlin Distributors, which purchases a variety of goods (health & beauty aids, toys, food products, housewares, etc.) and distributes them to more than 20 local retailers, including Longs Drugs, Walgreens, Walmart, Don Quijote and 7-Eleven. We take orders directly from retailers and replenish goods in quantities manageable for each store. Products now being distributed include Goody hair accessories, Prestige Cosmetics, Mattel Toys, Hasbro Toys, along with various other toys and household items.
Air/Ocean Freight
We can pick-up, break down and deliver cargo arriving in the islands via air or ocean. We provide the manpower and delivery services to several companies, picking up inbound freight from the airport or pier, processing and sorting the cargo, and then delivering the goods to customers.
Government Contracting
We are a sub-contractor for a federal contractor whose main customers are the U.S. Air Force, Navy and Army. Our services include delivering and setting up temporary home and/or office furnishings on military bases.
Full truckload (TL) is generally best suited for those looking to move more than 15,000 pounds,
or enough to justify the entire use of a semi-trailer. If you’re looking to ship more than 150 pounds
of freight, but less than 15,000, less than truckload (LTL) might be the best choice. Getting items
quickly from one point to another may call for expedited shipping services. Intermodal shipping uses
multiple modes of transportation and is great for long distances between metro areas.
If you have goods that are sensitive to climate conditions (produce, flowers, chocolate, etc.), you
will want to consider temperature controlled shipping. Freight service providers will assist you
throughout the process.
