In November 1959, Jack Craddock resigned his position as President of one of the Southwest’s largest and oldest movers to form Craddock Moving & Storage.
His father-in-law, Roscoe Carnrike, had already retired from a similar position a few years earlier and became the new company’s mentor and advisor. Mr. Carnrike had a long and distinguished career as a mover and was instrumental in founding one of the country’s first van lines. Mr. Carnrike had served the moving industry as a leader virtually in every way possible, was a civic leader who served on Fort Worth’s City Council, and as Fort Worth’s Mayor shortly after the end of World War II.
Jack Craddock followed in his father-in-law’s footsteps and was involved in a wide variety of industry associations. He was President of the Southwest Warehouse and Transfer Association, President of the American Warehousemen’s Association, and was an officer and director of the van line that the company represented.
In January 1964, Jack Craddock’s son, Mike, joined the company after graduation from Texas Tech and became its President a few years later – a position he holds today. Keeping in the family tradition, Mike became the first third generation Chairman of Southwest Movers’ Association, the only third generation member of his van line’s Board of Directors and was a second generation and two time Chairman of the Texas Motor Transportation Association.
Mike’s son, John, worked part-time for the company throughout his high school and college years and joined the company full-time in the summer of 2002 upon graduation from Texas Wesleyan. For two years, John worked in the operations department for the company. At the same time, plans were underway to open a separate company, SafeGuard Data Storage, which specializes in Records and Information Management, and since then John has played an integral part in the development of that company where he is the operations manager and partner. Craddock Moving & Storage is proud of it’s long history as as Fort Worth’s most trusted and experienced movers.
Residential Moving
Craddock Moving & Storage has been Fort Worth’s premier residential movers longer than any other local mover. Whether you are moving around the corner or around the world, we are committed to providing the highest quality of service to our valued customers. Our professionally trained movers will transport your household items with care, efficiency and at very competitive rates.
Before the residential moving process begins, Craddock Moving & Storage will assign a moving consultant to coordinate with you, visit with you in your home and provide you with a written proposal for the move and the following services (if needed):
Full Service Packing
Special servicing of appliances, electronic equipment, grandfather clocks, pool tables, hot tubs, exercise equipment, outdoor play equipment, and other items requiring pre-move attention
Specialized containers and packing for breakables
Every residential move is different, so when our professionally trained movers arrive, they will begin by confirming the required services for you. A walk through of your home will provide the moving crew the additional information needed to begin the move such as:
Are there items not being moved?
Items requiring special care or servicing
Floors, carpets, stairwells and door jambs that need to be protected
Once the consultation is over and the house has been prepped for the move, our residential moving services include:
Pad-wrapping the furniture in the house
Packing individual items into moving containers/boxes
Shrink-wrapping upholstered furniture
Disassembling items that need to be dismantled for the move
Protection of floors, carpets, door jambs, and stairwells at destination
Unwrapping, unpacking and setting up of household goods in your new home
Once you book your move with Craddock Moving & Storage your move coordinator will help you choose the services that will best suit your relocation. Whether it’s full service packing, do-it-yourself packing, or getting rid of items that you no longer need, your move coordinator will help you cut costs for a relocation that will best suit your budget. Most Fort Worth movers do not have the dependability and experience that Craddock Moving & Storage can provide you.

Local (intrastate) moves are generally based on a per-hour cost for the personnel and
the number of vehicles that the mover provides (up to a certain distance, with longer
distances based on the weight of your shipment and the mileage it is transported) and the
level of liability that the mover will cover in the event of loss or damage is generally
less than would apply for an interstate move.
Once you have compiled a list of movers, inform them of the destination and timing of your
move. Ask them about the types of services they offer. Also ask them to explain their
estimates in detail and to give you a copy. If any company refuses to give you a written
estimate, you should eliminate them from consideration. Then carefully compare to see which
mover best suits your needs and budget.
The cost of your move will be based on the actual weight of your belongings and the distance
they are shipped, plus the amount of packing and other services that you require.
To help you anticipate the cost of your move, movers will give you an estimate of the price.
Be sure to get written estimates from at least 3 different movers so that you can compare
their services and prices.
