Your Dependable Moving Services Provider
Independently owned and operated. Not affiliated with national van lines or referral services. As the owner, David Wilkes has personally operated Costa Mesa Moving since founding the company nearly 30 years ago. We have an excellent reputation and specialize in antiques and difficult-to-move pieces.

Costa Mesa Moving Company offers a variety of affordable moving services as well as storage in Costa Mesa.

Be prepared:
Boxes should be closed and sealed with tape, not bulging on any side.
Books and heavy items are in small boxes.
Place packed boxes out of the way. Put them in an empty room or the garage.
Mark boxes well so they are easily identified as to what room they belong in the new place.
Mark fragile boxes clearly. Also, make sure that fragile boxes are full of packing paper or other cushioning to give the box support.
Boxes should not weigh over 50 lbs.
Clearly mark or set aside items that are not to be moved, or may be delivered to a location other than your new home.

Have your space planned out in your new home/office:
Know where your furniture is going before move day and make sure you measure the furniture first if there’s a question that it might not fit.
Have a schematic of each office taped to the door of the office to assist with putting furniture in its proper place.
Be available for questions.
If possible, children and dogs should be left with a relative or neighbor.

Storage
Costa Mesa Moving Company offers safe and secure vaulted storage at our warehouse in Costa Mesa. Each vault measures 8 ft. deep x 7 ft. tall x 5 ft. wide and costs $65 per month. Materials to protect your items while in storage such as paper pads and plastic shrink wrap will be charged separately. Please see our supplies page for pricing.

Q What should I do with my jewelry and other valuable items?

Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.

In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.

Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.

Q How do I prepare my appliances for moving?

Appliances such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators must be disconnected, and the washer
must have a stabilizer installed. Again, your estimator can help you understand how these
items are properly serviced. All local moving companies have business relationships with
local service providers that handle this type of service, however full service moving
companies and national moving companies will also be able to provide all of the moving
services you require. Be sure you know who your mover will be using, as you will need to let
these people into your home to provide the service.
