Commercial Freight Services, Inc. was founded in 1992 and is a Woman Owned Business Enterprise (WBE). We are proud to say that even through tumultuous economic times, we have continued to thrive and to experience growth and financial stability.
Our focus is freight transportation and warehousing with specialization in cargo security. We seek out leading edge technology and advancements that enhance our capabilities in transporting and securing our customers’ product. Commercial Freight Services’ mission is to provide shippers with expert freight management services while maintaining security sensitive processes and procedures.
Company History
Since 1992, Commercial Freight Services, Inc. (now referred to as CFS) has grown from providing general warehouse services to becoming an asset-based truckload carrier and complete ground handling logistics services provider. In 2014, CFS expanded its services with CFX Logistics, Inc. – a truckload brokerage and transportation logistics company. Most recently, in June 2015, CFS opened a sister company called Leigh-David Logistics, Inc., specializing in E-commerce Home Delivery.
Cargo Security Focus
Critical to our business model is a dedication to being experts in all matters related to cargo security. Operating as an Airline Cargo Handling agent and a Certified Cargo Screening Facility, we are on the front lines in protecting commercial aviation from terrorism. CFS has devoted resources to assisting the Transportation Security Administration as a Beta test site for cargo screening and GPS chain of custody technologies. The President of our company served as a Senior Advisor, Logistics for the Department of Homeland Security under the Loaned Executive program.

Do you need to distribute goods in an emergency, replenish inventory, or satisfy a customer’s changing requirements? CFS can ensure your time-sensitive freight is delivered on time with our expedited shipping services.
What should I do with my jewelry and other valuable items?
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.
In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.
Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.
How do I prepare my appliances for moving?
Appliances such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators must be disconnected, and the washer
must have a stabilizer installed. Again, your estimator can help you understand how these
items are properly serviced. All local moving companies have business relationships with
local service providers that handle this type of service, however full service moving
companies and national moving companies will also be able to provide all of the moving
services you require. Be sure you know who your mover will be using, as you will need to let
these people into your home to provide the service.
