We understand you want to see a number here. We could put a number here, but we won’t. Any moving company who writes “average numbers” on their website is simply misleading.
Allow us to explain…
We often get asked questions like, “how much is it to move a one bedroom?”
Well, your “one bedroom” contains completely different items than another person’s “one bedroom.” So how can we answer how much would it cost to move a one bedroom without taking an accurate list of your items?
In order to give you the appropriate numbers, we need to know your specific needs first.
For moves above a certain amount of items, we offer a free no obligation on-site estimate. This service can help you determine your exact list of items to ship. Simply ask for an on-site estimate and one of our friendly team members will meet you at your property. He will create a thorough inventory list of all your items and will walk you through the full moving process.
All moving companies base their price on either volume or weight. There is no other method. In order to determine your shipment volume or weight, all moving companies use the same official DOT chart containing standard household goods weight and volume.
Volume – measuring the space your items occupy in a moving truck.
Weight – the weight of your total shipment.
If we pick up your items but you won’t be ready to receive them in the next two weeks, then you might need some storage. In fact, you may not even think you need storage, but plans can change. Perhaps your new home won’t be ready, or maybe you need to stay a while longer for one reason or another. Regardless of your case, we’ve got you covered.
In case you need them, 30 days of free storage are included with your move. Once the 30 days free are over, your storage charge is calculated by volume. Each customer only pays for the exact volume of the goods they store, as opposed to self-storage facilities where customers are charged for the entire size of the room they rent – whether or not they fill up the entire space.
Each shipment is assigned its own sealed, wooden vault and is carefully labeled and stored in one of our clean and secured storage facilities. You can choose your shipment to be stored at your pick up city or your city of destination.
All storage jobs, by default, remain at the pick up city unless “storage at destination city” service is purchased (see below). You can stay in storage for an unlimited time, extending your stay for as much as you need. When ready, please notify us at least two weeks in advance before you are able to receive your shipment. This will allow us to schedule your delivery in a timely manner and have your items shipped across country to you.
Once your shipment is in transit, you will receive daily "shipment status" emails (only Mon to Fri) - informing you of your shipment location. You can also email/call our customer service department for updates. Please keep in mind that it might take few days after pick up to start receiving email updates.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates all moving companies to provide free basic insurance with each move. This insurance values all lost or damaged goods at sixty cents per pound per item. All moving companies are required to provide the exact same insurance. Aside from the basic insurance, it is also common to buy a full value replacement insurance from a 3rd party (highly recommend). For more information, please speak to your sales representative.
Per The Department of Transportation's (DOT) regulations, you have up to nine months from your delivery date to file a claim. This allows you to comfortably unpack and inspect your shipment. Keep in mind that this timeline does not apply to third party insurance policies. If purchased, you would need to check with them directly.
