Bulk Connection founder, Jim Cordock, began as an operations manager at a major tank truck carrier, Matlack Systems, where he created efficient freight runs for bulk shipments. He quickly recognized an opportunity to do the same thing, but on a much larger and more efficient scale, as a freight broker specializing in bulk transport.
To capitalize on the opportunity, Jim partnered with his boyhood friend, Michael Wilson, who also worked for Matlack. In 1987, Jim and Michael started Bulk Connection with the goal of providing fast, reliable and cost-efficient capacity for bulk freight, with a focus on liquid bulk products.
Today, we continue to serve a large group of bulk shippers with one of the largest carrier networks in North America
Bulk Connection is a licensed, bonded and insured freight broker providing on-demand freight capacity for liquid and dry bulk shipments. We began in 1987 as bulk shipping specialists and still maintain the largest network of bulk carriers in North America. This bulk network allows us to say “yes” to your load requests, when many others can’t.
HAZMAT CARRIERS
The risks are different with hazmat freight. Have an accident with a trailer full of groceries and you lose two pallets of cereal. But a hazmat carrier collision could trigger a highway shutdown and bring out people with badges and first responders in full-body hazmat suits. At Bulk Connection, 70% of our business is transporting hazardous materials, so safety and compliance are our constant focus.
SECURE CAPACITY FROM LIQUID BULK CARRIERS
Bulk Connection was founded in 1987 by tanker truck executives who saw an opportunity to make sourcing of liquid bulk freight faster and easier. We leverage one of the industry’s largest bulk liquid carrier networks to find reliable capacity when others can’t. The best indication of our success: the industry’s largest freight brokers source liquid bulk carriers through Bulk Connection.
DRY BULK SHIPPING
During our 30 years managing dry bulk shipping, Bulk Connection has handled plastic pellets, silica sand, powders and just about anything else that ships in hoppers. We specialize in handling the tough stuff.
You have the right to receive an estimate based on a physical (in-house) survey of your
shipment. Under the regulations, your mover must base your estimate (either binding,
non-binding, or not-to-exceed), on a physical survey of the household goods to be moved if
the goods are located with a 50-mile radius of your mover’s (or his agent’s) place of business.
You may elect to waive this requirement for a physical survey, but if you elect to do so,
you must sign a written waiver of your rights.
In all likelihood, you will find that an on-site estimate based on a physical survey
of the items that you plan on moving will be more accurate than an estimate that you
provide to your mover over the telephone or the Internet. So, unless circumstances warrant
(normally due to the time constraints of a short-notice move or because you are only shipping
a few items) think carefully before you elect to waive the required physical survey
of your shipment.
