Buchanan Hauling & Rigging was founded in June 1996 by Geary Buchanan. At the time, Geary was an owner-operator with 24 years of experience in the trucking industry. He started the company with one truck, two trailers, and dreams to supply quality transportation at a fair market rate, building long-lasting business relationships, and providing high-quality jobs to drivers and owner-operators.
Buchanan Hauling started with no business plan, only the notion that hard work would pay off and that Buchanan Hauling and Rigging could out-work and out-perform the competition.
Since the beginning, our company has experienced double-digit growth, all while maintaining our focus on continually improving the way we do our jobs. We pay special attention to suggestions and comments by our customers and vendors. At Buchanan, we are always trying to improve our service.
We are proud to provide service to all of North America with no trans-loading at the borders of Canada or Mexico.
How do I determine freight class?
There are 18 freight classes. They are determined by weight, dimensions, density, storage capability,
ease of handling, value and liability from instances like theft, damage, breakability and spoilage.

What’s the difference between less than truckload and full truckload?
Less than truckload (LTL) shipping allows multiple shippers to share space on the same
truck while full truckload shipments typically travel on only one truck with one destination.
