The roots of Air-Land Transport Service, Inc. began more than 70 years ago when John R. Gray, Sr. founded Speedy Delivery Service. In 1945 Speedy Delivery Service began by delivering to the grocery, printing, and retail industries. At its inception, Speedy Delivery Service consisted of three employees, a cargo van, a two-ton truck, and a desire to exceed customer expectations.
Our “we’ll take care of it” attitude gave customers peace of mind knowing they would receive unparalleled service.
As a result of our customer satisfaction promise, Speedy Delivery Service contracted with a furniture and appliance company, delivering packages, appliances, and furniture. Speedy continued to expand, receiving and delivering important shipments between the Greater Peoria Airport and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport for a large manufacturing company.
In order to meet our customers’ growing transportation needs, we shifted our focus towards the truckload industry. In 1980, Air-Land Transport Service, Inc. was founded by John R. Gray, Jr., embracing to this day the principle upon which Speedy Delivery Service was built – total customer satisfaction.
Today, Air-Land Transport Service, Inc. accommodates the needs of customers and is committed to providing personalized, honest service, catering to our customer’s specific supply chain needs.
Warehousing
Gray Interplant Systems, Inc. began as a division of Air-Land Transport, providing high caliber service and quality on-site transportation logistics for large manufacturing clients. Gray Interplant has continued to expand, and now offers additional on-site and off-site services supporting the original line of logistics solutions.
Equipment
Air-Land Transport operates an extensive fleet of trucks and trailers to meet the needs of our customers. This equipment is maintained in our state-of-the-art maintenance facility in Morton, Illinois and our facility in East Moline, Illinois.
We currently operate 150 Class 8 power units and over 750 trailers including

We also offer storage trailer rental when you are in need of temporary additional storage space.
What should I do with my jewelry and other valuable items?
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.
In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.
Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.
Can I pack anything in the drawers of my dresser or desk?
All loose items must be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage while moving. It is
recommended that you pack all items and leave the drawers empty.
