Ahmed Issa, founder and owner of Ahmed’s Moving Express came to the United States in 1988. He was born and grew up in Tanzania, Africa. Ahmed came here, as so many do, in search of the American dream. Although initially he did not speak English, he brought with him a strong work ethic and desire to learn and succeed.

He enrolled at College of Marin and studied Business Administration and English as a Second Language. During that time he worked part time for a local moving company. And in 1997 he bought his first moving van. For three years Ahmed contracted with other moving companies and then in 2000 he incorporated as Ahmed’s Moving Express. His office and warehouse located in The Vineyard in San Rafael was purchased in 2004.

For 14 years, as Ahmed’s Moving Express has grown, it has provided Marin and California residents with a local and statewide moving service that has garnered a trusted reputation for reliability and quality.

In Ahmed’s Moving Express partnered with the interstate moving company, Wheaton World Wide Moving, and were rewarded by receiving from Wheaton their award for the Top New Agent for the West Coast (a region of 11 states). Local moves – In California, moves that are 100 miles or less, within the state are considered local moves and are billed by the hour.

Intrastate moves – A California intrastate move is defined by any move over 100 miles from the city of origin, but still within the state. An intrastate move is billed according to the size or weight of your shipment and the total distance between origin and destination.

Interstate moves – Generally, interstate moves are those that cross state lines. As an agent of Wheaton World Wide Moving, Ahmed’s Moving Express can move your belongings from a home in one state to a home in another.

Ahmed’s Moving Express offers long and short term storage options. Ahmed has two warehouses totaling 6,000 square feet and can accommodate a variety of storage items.
