About Me
My decision to start this business came after a loss of a family member. I played a lead role in helping with the distribution of the personal property for the estate, then helped a family member transition into a retirement home. There were so many small details to contend with and the surviving widow was overwhelmed to say the least. It was then that I started to think about others who may not have someone able to help take care of this type of transition so I began to think about starting up my own company. I love helping others and to know that I make a difference in a family or person’s life.
I strongly believe in giving back to your community. I have been volunteering for more than 30 years for one charity or another. I have spent 10 years on “Hike for Hospice” committee raising funds for Hospice Wellington, spent 7 years volunteering with the Rotary Club of Guelph Wellington, sitting on the Board of Directors and eventually the role of President. I volunteered on the e “Black Tie Bingo” committee raising funds for much needed equipment for the Guelph General Hospital for over 11 years. Presently I volunteer for “ElderDog Canada”, helping seniors walk their dogs so they are able to keep their pet with them.
Prior to starting SWOT Services I was the Senior Manager, Operations for 19 years at the Guelph Chamber of Commerce. I have had the privilege of meeting and working with so many extraordinary companies in Guelph and surrounding area. I bring these experts and connections with me to my new company. I have organized and managed two office moves throughout my career on time and on budget. I bring these organizational skills to my clients assisting with whatever is needed to accomplish the task at hand.
No job is too big or too small. Making any transition easier for you.
Downsizing
Moving from a house into an apartment or condo? Moving your elderly loved ones into a senior’s complex or care facility? SWOT Services provides a downsizing service for those who don’t have the time, manpower or ability to manage such a complex project themselves.
Downsizing begins with a consultation to determine which items are to be kept and which will be sold or donated to a charity of choice.
Arrangements for a boxes, packing paper and movers can be done on your behalf all at a discounted price. SWOT Services is able to assist with unpacking & organizing at the new location.
Working with the listing realtor, arrangements will be made to have the previous home cleaned and prepared for sale.
De-cluttering
Living in constant clutter is stressful and non-productive. It’s difficult to reach your goals when you have to contend with a lot of debris. Maybe you need to revamp your office filing system, organize your cupboards or clean out your basement or garage.
SWOT Services can sort through your belongings, remove the no longer wanted items. We can organize and sort those items which are to be kept. Your home will be clean, organized and tastefully arranged.
Relax and leave the details to us while you enjoy your life.
All loose items must be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage while moving. It is
recommended that you pack all items and leave the drawers empty.
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money, antiques, and stamp collections
can be included in your shipment, provided that you notify your local moving representative
of these items before packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry
irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make alternate arrangements for their
transport.
In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered to be articles
of "extraordinary value.” To be assured that a claim involving these articles is not limited
to minimal liability, complete and sign your mover's high-value inventory form.
Also, be sure to sign the "Extraordinary Value Article Declaration" box, if applicable, on
your Bill of Lading.
Each mover has a slightly different procedure to follow as it relates to high-value items.
Ask your relocation specialist to provide you with an explanation of their company's process.
This is a confusing (but important) task, so be sure that you clearly understand the rules
prior to load day.
