Our caring team is ready to support you with your transition, led by owner and founder Kayla Scheele.

Kayla has been supporting Seniors and those in the vulnerable sector for over 10 years in different contexts, such as senior & youth group homes, community outreach, and personalized in-home support. Elder Moving was born after Kayla uncovered a growing need in the community for caring move management for seniors.

A free spirit from an early age, Kayla has traveled extensively and worn many hats, from helping design Michel Bublé’s wedding to training as a holistic Doula. With a background in Exhibit Design and a passion for creating functional and beautiful spaces, it was only natural that Kayla would marry her love of design with her passion for helping seniors and her expertise in moving.

Kayla knows from experience how to make moving stress-free. That’s why she goes the extra mile to handle your move with patience and care. Originally from Alberta, Kayla has spent the last 8 years on Vancouver Island exploring its rivers and forests and making meaningful connections with Island Seniors.

Based in the Comox Valley Elder Moving consists of a team of 10 caring individuals who look forward to meeting you during your upcoming move, or at an Estate Sale.

From wrapping your heirloom china to plugging in your kettle and hanging your art, we do it all with patience & care.

We go the extra mile to make you feel settled in & at home on your first night.

We have a handyman to help with any repairs required, as well as cleaners to take care of your move out clean.

AFTER-MOVE SUPPORT
We wont just leave you after your moving day, we are happy to continue supporting you with your changing needs and help you shift and adapt into your new routine. From grocery shopping, & transportation to appointments, please let us know what you require and we will do our best to support your request.

We love supporting Seniors and folks with diverse-abilities. If there is something special you need support with please call us or email us and we will do our best to provide the support you require, or connect you with the right people/organization that can. We love meeting new people and making friends.

ESTATE CLOSURE MANAGEMENT
We will guide, & manage a smooth estate closure based on your timeline and needs.

We plan, organize, clean, sort, distribute to family/friends, coordinate junk removal, and all the details in-between.

Q When is the best time to move?

The busiest times for moving companies are typically during the summer months, May-September.
If you are planning a move during that time you should make arrangements early.

Friday and Saturdays are big moving days so if you have flexibility in your schedule it can
be easier to get a date during the week rather than a weekend.

Q Do I need to be home during the move?

On the day of the move you need to be present. There is paperwork to sign and you need to
show the movers exactly what is being moved. After the movers have loaded the truck you will
be ask to do a walk through. That is the time to point out anything that may have been missed
once the truck drives away they are done.

At the unload they will place boxes in rooms based on the rooms written on the boxes
(ie., bedroom, kitchen, garage). Furniture will be placed in the location you specify.
It is helpful if you already have a basic idea where you want furniture placed.
If the movers have to keep rearranging and switching furniture around it will take longer
and you are paying hourly.
