About
Grimshaw Trucking
We call ourselves “Your Gateway to the North” because that very statement defines the foundation that Grimshaw Trucking was built on.

From our modest beginnings in 1948 we have delivered on our commitment of providing reliable transportation services to Northern Communities & Businesses in Western Canada.

Company Overview
Grimshaw Trucking provided transportation services in the early days to the north when you had to forge creeks on log bridges that were chopped and engineered from the sides of the road. There were large tracks of these roads that were still muskeg and the only way through was a tow from a Bombardier or a Bulldozer if they were available.

In the early 1950’s, Grimshaw Trucking mainly serviced the area north of Grimshaw, Alberta hauling product from the rail head and returning with fish and other local products.
The late 1950’s and early 1960’s saw an increase in demand for reliable transportation service into the north and Grimshaw expanded to new communities. We began service to Grande Prairie, Calgary, Slave Lake and High Prairie through our purchase of numerous local transportation companies. A big milestone came in the winter of 1967 when Grimshaw played an instrumental role in building a road into Waterways, Alberta, now known as Fort McMurray. The importance of opening up this corner of Alberta as well as the economic benefits it has provided not only for Alberta, but for the rest of Canada, can not be overstated.

The next ten years saw Grimshaw Trucking expand into Edson, Valleyview, Fox Creek, Hinton and various other northern communities through acquisition of small competitors.
In 1995 Grimshaw Trucking was purchased by the current owners, Mullen Group Ltd. from Northern Transportation Co. Ltd. Mullen’s core values and commitment to quality have contributed to our continued growth and focus on striving for excellence.

Canada’s northern frontier is vast. It is characterized by its harsh climate and many of the communities by today’s standards are still remote and isolated making the delivery of goods to these locations difficult. The geographic area Grimshaw Trucking services is also rich in natural resources and a key factor in the successful exploration and development of these resources is dependable transportation.

Grimshaw Trucking is proud to provide an essential service that has contributed to the prosperity and development of the north for the past 64 years. We have been recognized for our innovation, dependability and superior customer service making us a leader in the transportation Industry.

Q Should I have the mover come to my home to look at my goods?

You have the right to receive an estimate based on a physical (in-house) survey of your
shipment. Under the regulations, your mover must base your estimate (either binding,
non-binding, or not-to-exceed), on a physical survey of the household goods to be moved if
the goods are located with a 50-mile radius of your mover’s (or his agent’s) place of business.
You may elect to waive this requirement for a physical survey, but if you elect to do so,
you must sign a written waiver of your rights.

Q Is it a good idea to get an estimate over the phone or via the Internet?

In all likelihood, you will find that an on-site estimate based on a physical survey
of the items that you plan on moving will be more accurate than an estimate that you
provide to your mover over the telephone or the Internet. So, unless circumstances warrant
(normally due to the time constraints of a short-notice move or because you are only shipping
a few items) think carefully before you elect to waive the required physical survey
of your shipment.
