The Agway Story
Agway System is a family-owned and operated business. For nearly 50 years we have provided our clients with the highest quality storage, handling, and transportation of customer goods. We own our own warehouse buildings, tractors, vans, and packaging equipment. We are committed to quality and safety and follow all ISO standards. Our close-knit team of employees and contractors are second to none in the industry.

THE INCEPTION
In late 1960, Leonard Aguillard left his Executive Position with a Global Industrial Manufacturing Company and joined three other top level Executives and formed a local Baton Rouge Warehousing Company.
In 1970 Mr. Aguillard resigned his partnership and founded Agway Systems, Inc. of Baton Rouge Louisiana.

Mr. Aguillard rented a small partitioned warehouse where he provided storage of raw materials used in the manufacture of finished consumer paper items.

As business continued to grow, Mr. Aguillard entered into a long term lease agreement with the Port of Baton Rouge and constructed his first company owned building located at the Barge Terminal Road Property.

The Barge Terminal Warehouse offered Boxcar Receiving and Shipping of Warehoused Goods; Contract Packaging, Transloading, Local Drayage and Bulk Truck Transportation. This facility now provides 250,000 square feet of warehousing.

EXPANSION
As the Baton Rouge Petrochemical Industry expanded, Agway responded with the purchase of several acres of land on Ronaldson Road and the construction of a 490,000 square foot warehouse.
Our expansion continued with the purchase of property on Leisure Road and the construction of a 180,000 square foot facility providing Out-Plant Packaging and Transloading Services. This included installation of a Form, Fill and Seal (FFS), Bulk Box, Super-Sack Packaging Lines and rail tracks to accommodate sixty-five railcars was the first of its kind in the area.

In 2016 we opened the Agway Ronaldson East facility consisting of 200,000 square feet with 100,000 SF of Temperature Controlled Space. In 2019, we expanded with an additional 200,000 square feet.

PRESENT DAY
Today, Agway Systems, Inc. owns and operates over 1.3 million square feet of warehouse providing Industrial Storage and Physical Distribution Service to the Petro-Chemical Industry in the Greater Baton Rouge Commercial Zone.
We have a fleet of Company Owned Tractors and Leased Trailers ready to provide Local Drayage service between the Warehouse and Manufacturing Plants. Our fleet of Long Term Contract Owner Operators provide Over the Road Transportation between Baton Rouge and the Intermodal Container Terminals in New Orleans.

Q How can I avoid adjustments?

Adjustments can be costly, but can mostly be avoided with accurate information.
Common adjustments occur around oversized items (more than 12 feet in length), lift-gates,
limited delivery access, residential fees, reclassifications and changes to the bill of lading.

Q What is a bill of lading?

The bill of lading (BOL) acts as an invoicing receipt in the shipping industry, and with many
motor carriers, the BOL is the contract of carriage between that motor carrier and the shipper.
It includes important information related to the shipment such as addresses, packaging type,
freight class, description of the goods and any special instructions.
