Gray Transportation invested in McLeod Software in March of 2017. McLeod is the leading software provider servicing the transportation industry. This software is not only helping Gray become a more efficient carrier, but it is adding value in creating driver friendly applications. The investment in this software will provide Gray Transportation a competitive edge over our competition.
Gray Transportation has made the investment in an innovative program that Omnitracs has to offer called Workflow. This program is all about making day to day Electronic Logging easier on the drivers. It simplifies the load information received by a driver and reduces it all into the most basic and precise method of receiving load assignments. It formats your loads in a way that gives you stop by stop locations, fuel stops, navigation, appointment times, load numbers and trailer numbers all in one easy to access application. You are no longer required to read 15+ messages per load and are no longer required to send in messages when arriving to or departing a stop. We have had nothing but positive feedback from our drivers using this program and hear about how easy to use this program truly is.
The Logix Anywhere mobile capturing application allows the Driver to use their smartphone to submit images of documents without the need of using a scanner or fax machine. This application reduces the hassle of having to fax or mail in your weekly payroll documents. This app also allows you to view your weekly payroll settlements.
The Driver Scorecard is a tool to aide in monitoring and reviewing each Driver’s historical performance improvement. Gray’s customized scorecard measures the Driver’s performance based upon Key Performance Indicators (KPI) including: fuel mileage, fuel compliance, idle time, clean inspections, tenure, accidents, service and CSA points. This review is a face-to-face meeting you the Driver, Dispatcher and Management representative. This is a great opportunity for Drivers to provide input, ask questions or address any issues.
Gray Transportation maintains a Satisfactory Safety Record with the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration. Gray has a strong partnership with our insurance agent and we identify deficiencies while working together to create programs that help us achieve compliance. All of the programs listed above also play a direct role in achieving compliance.
Although the Weigh My Truck is not a McLeod app, it is an app that our Drivers take advantage of. This app allows drivers to pull onto the scale, view their weights and pay for the scale all without getting out of the truck.
Less than truckload (LTL) shipping allows multiple shippers to share space on the same
truck while full truckload shipments typically travel on only one truck with one destination.
The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) allocates a specific number to each product
that could be shipped. That is the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) that pairs to the
freight class best suited for the product. It’s important to include the NMFC number on the bill of
lading to reduce chances of reclassification.
