ABOUT PTI
PTI is an asset-based flatbed company based in Manson, Iowa. The company was formed in 1997 and at inception, consisted of one truck and one flatbed trailer. Over the past two decades, PTI has grown its fleet to currently number more than 50 power units, and more than 140 flatbed and step-deck trailers. In addition to company trucks, PTI has several owner-operators leased on to the fleet. Peterson Transportation Inc. works tirelessly to secure drivers who are knowledgeable, hardworking, and hold safety policies in high regard.
Peterson Transportation Services, Inc. was established in 1999 as a Brokerage Company to compliment the asset-based offering. With the resources of both entities, we are able to better serve our customers as needed. PTS offers our customers a benefit to connect their freight to other pre-approved carriers to ensure their product is delivered on time and in a safe manner. PTS is consistently one of the best paying brokerages to our carriers in the industry. Our low commissions ensure that our carriers make a maximum profit while moving the product with care.
Peterson Transportation, Inc.’s personal relationships with its customers and drivers has created an atmosphere of trust and dependability. One of PTI’s strategic directives is to make operational excellence a top priority. To help achieve this goal, PTI has built strong partnerships with many of our shippers through the use of drop trailers. PTI has made a large capital investment to accommodate the needs of our partners. Additionally, PTI’s ability to negotiate operating agreements with national vendors has given us the opportunity to manage expenses effectively, and in-turn, stay competitive in a challenging market.
JOB SITE DELIVERIES
PTI has earned its reputation as a reliable carrier for job site deliveries. PTI uses state-of-the-art equipment to track shipments and communicate progress to shippers and receivers.
Whether it’s a flatbed, drop deck, stretch trailer, oversize, or LTL freight, PTI and PTS can transport your load either across town or coast to coast. Our customers have the security of knowing their freight will be delivered by PTI’s professional team of drivers.
BROKERAGE
Peterson Transportation Services, Inc. was established in 1999 as a Brokerage Company to compliment the asset-based offering. With the resources of both entities, we are able to better serve our customers as needed. PTS offers our customers a benefit to connect their freight to other pre-approved carriers to ensure their product is delivered on time and in a safe manner. PTS is consistently one of the best paying brokerages to our carriers in the industry. Our low commissions ensure that our carriers make a maximum profit while moving the product with care.
PERMITS
Peterson Transportation Services seized an opportunity in 2019 to form a Permit Issuing Service. Because so much of our freight is over-width and over length, we opened a fully bonded permit issuing service as a tool for ourselves and our customers. We can quickly calculate permit costs and that translates into quicker, more accurate rate quotes. In 2020, PTS issued over 5,000 oversized permits as the business expanded.
PTS has cultivated relationships with several pilot car venders all over the United states to help meet the full service needs of our customers.

There are 18 freight classes. They are determined by weight, dimensions, density, storage capability,
ease of handling, value and liability from instances like theft, damage, breakability and spoilage.
To help you determine freight class, we’ve developed a freight density calculator.
Less than truckload (LTL) shipping allows multiple shippers to share space on the same
truck while full truckload shipments typically travel on only one truck with one destination.
