Conestoga Freight Protection
Do you have a fragile, sensitive or high-valued shipment that needs extra protection? Would you prefer not having a standard tarp touch your product? Miller Transfer has one of the largest fleets of conestoga trailers in the country. These retractable tarping systems do not have a hard top so you can load from the sides, back or crane load from above, adding ease and speed to the loading and unloading process. This also keeps the tarps off of your product, which is especially important for industrial machinery and other items with sharp edges.

Regional Support
Miller Transfer has employee-managed terminals strategically located throughout the continental United States. In fact, there’s likely to be a Business Development professional and terminal within a 150-mile radius. While this results in shorter distances and competitive rates for your hauls, it also means nearby expertise and support for you.

What Is a Heavy-Haul Load?
While there is no specific definition of a heavy-haul load, Miller Transfer classifies any commodity that measures 65’ long or longer, or 14’ wide or wider, or 15’ overall height or higher, or has a weight of 60,000 lbs or greater.

These loads require specialized equipment and longer permit lead times.

Whatever the load, it requires complex planning, specialized trailers, as well as overweight permits prior to shipment. Miller Transfer has an in-house permit department and works directly with governing authorities in all 50 states to ensure your load is moved as efficiently as possible.

What Is Over-Dimensional Freight?
Over-dimensional freight is generally any load more than 48’ in length, 8’6” wide or with a loaded height of 13’6” or higher. Since these loads don’t fit the maximum length, width and height that trailers are typically expected to haul, they can be potentially hazardous on the road. Over-dimensional freight can interfere with travel in adjacent lanes and – depending on height – can result in a longer route to get around low obstructions like bridges, wires, etc.

All over-dimensional loads require permits. Depending on the overall dimensions, special requirements may be needed in addition to permits. These could include route surveys, private escorts, bucket trucks to lift electric lines, police escorts and travel time restrictions to name a few. Contact us to discuss your specific load.
