Shea Trucking, Long Island’s Premier Air / Ocean Freight and Cargo Specialists, Has Been Serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties and New York’s Queens County For Over 49 Years.
Chances are if your Long Island organization has shipped or received cargo in substantial volume via air or ocean, you have probably been serviced by Shea Trucking. Nearly all major forwarders have Shea retrieve freight to and from New York’s Kennedy Airport (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), Islip MacArthur and New Jersey’s Newark (EWR). Large importers and exporters, having experienced Shea’s efficiency and affordability, contact Shea directly. Shea’s reputation alone has enabled business to expand from its humble beginnings to now possessing a substantial fleet of straight trucks and tractor trailers based out of its vast hub warehouse in West Babylon, NY.
Shea has trucks in all of the Long Island’s major industrial areas that shuttle between their territory, their hub, the airports and piers (Shea’s trucking destination points extend to Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Queens and Long Island’s Twin Forks with affordable daily service.) This “Blanket” creates a constant flow or coverage and enables Shea to retrieve freight promptly and realistically meet deadlines both from a scheduled or expedited basis. Should an organization need service that Shea deems unrealistic, the client is informed at the time of the call. Given however the experience and relationships the staff has accrued, there are times when Shea can make the impossible a reality.
Even with the instability in the trucking field, and never employing a sales staff, Shea continues to grow. Much of that can be attributed to the fact that when you call Shea, there’s a pretty good possibility you’ll be speaking with one of the owners. Brother Rich (President), Jim and Chris run the day to day operations mindful of the adage “You are only as good as your last delivery.” If that means coming in early, staying late to load trucks, or getting in the truck to deliver your important shipment, they will be there – their business and your business depends on it.

FTL stands for Full Truckload. A shipment that is over 10,000lb or takes up an entire truck by
itself is considered Full Truckload. One of the main characteristic of an FTL Services is that it
will take your shipment on a long haul, making one trip from point A to Point B without transferring
the cargo.
LTL stands for Less Than Truckload. If you have 200 pounds of freight to transport, you’ve got an LTL
shipment. It takes just a section of the truck and the cargo is safely consolidated with other shipments
that may be picked up and distributed in the same area.
Adjustments can be costly, but can mostly be avoided with accurate information.
Common adjustments occur around oversized items (more than 12 feet in length), lift-gates,
limited delivery access, residential fees, reclassifications and changes to the bill of lading.
