S & H Express

S&H Express got its start in 1992 when Steve Shellenberger purchased a small, local trucking company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Through the 1990s, the company methodically expanded its customer base and fleet of trucks. Shellenberger founded S&H Transport in 1994 to offer brokerage and logistics support for industries. S&H Transport meets customers’ transportation needs by managing and evaluating multi-modal options throughout 48 states, Canada, and Mexico.

In 1998, Shellenberger saw an opportunity to improve York City by purchasing a dilapidated terminal and warehouse within city limits. The property was substantial enough to accommodate a large terminal, warehouse and office space. It also provided increased parking for trucks. The City of York awarded S&H Express with an Outstanding Development Award for the renovation and development of that property.

Shellenberger founded Granite Transportation in October 2000 to serve the local food and manufacturing sectors. Granite Transportation has grown steadily from its original one customer and two drivers. It now provides trucking throughout the northeastern United States. Granite Transportation’s management cultivates a family atmosphere. The company provides its customers with a level of service and professionalism that is simply the best!

A shortage of temporary warehouse space among manufacturers and suppliers prompted Shellenberger to found Shelly Rentals. Since 2002, Shelly Rentals has fostered better customer care by offering dry-van trailers and reefers for rent as cost-effective, short and longer-term storage.

Acquiring Cassidy Transportation and Carroll Gross Transportation in 2010 added bulk tanker and flatbed capabilities. Now known as S&H Bulk Transport, this business segment relocated from Keymar, MD to Manchester, MD in January 2016. Its 40 lease and company drivers haul cement, fly ash, GranCem, NewCem, and other aggregates to job sites, plants, highway construction sites, airport runways, fracking sites and power plants. Through this acquisition, the Shellenberger Family of Companies once again addressed the needs of a growing and diverse customer base.

S&H Express added HF Campbell Transportation and Landis Express to the Shellenberger Family of Companies in 2014. HF Campbell Transportation ships refrigerated goods. By broadening the fleet’s ability to ship refrigerated goods, HF Campbell further expands the company’s customer base and marketplace to services. Landis Express operates in the LTL and TL markets. Landis Express also provides 150,000 square feet of sprinklered, temperature-controlled warehouse storage, and offers distribution logistics and supply chain management.

The Shelly Truck Driving School was founded in 2014. This truck driving school provides the industry with highly sought-after professional drivers. It is the only CDL A school in Pennsylvania that is owned and operated by a leader in the trucking and transportation industry.

Most recently, S&H Express opened an office in St. Petersburg, Florida. This office draws upon the combined experience and transportation industry know-how of all of the Shellenberger Family of Companies. The Shellenberger Family of Companies now operate as a regional truckload carrier and full service logistics business with a 48-state operating authority. The regional carrier services primarily target the market areas of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic while the brokerage and logistics business segment targets all 48 states including Canada and Mexico. Specific lanes throughout the country are serviced on a regular and “as-needed” basis. Our Company strength arises from our many dedicated, skilled employees.
