Intermodal/Rail
Intermodal transportation is the use of two or more modes, or carriers, to transport freight from shipper to consignee. Special standardized containers are used for intermodal transport of cargo on trucks, trains, and ships. This mode may be right for you if, your shipments travel 300 miles or more, your freight ships to the same locations consistently, your shipments go to and from metro areas or across borders.
Intermodal transport often leads to lower costs, faster delivery, safer goods, and improved sustainability. Due to these strong advantages, intermodal transport has become a preferred system of transport in the supply chain. As global online trade and commerce grow, demand for intermodal transport will likely increase in the coming decades.
Our Logistics team works for you, coordinating the smooth transfer of your shipment on each specific leg of the journey and ensure door-to-door delivery is complete.

If you are receiving a non-binding estimate, the charges that your mover assesses on your
shipment must be based on the actual weight of the shipment. Your mover may not lawfully
assess transportation charges on shipments with non-binding estimates on cubic feet, volume,
time (hourly) or on any basis other than weight. Also, the federal regulations require that
shipment weights must be determined on a state certified scale with a copy of the weigh
master’s tickets provided to you in support of the final invoice.
The busiest times for moving companies are typically during the summer months, May-September.
If you are planning a move during that time you should make arrangements early.
Friday and Saturdays are big moving days so if you have flexibility in your schedule it can
be easier to get a date during the week rather than a weekend.
