WHAT’S IN A MASCOT?
Every day in our office, Phoebe, our Boston terrier, embodies the qualities that have made Maya Van Lines the Atlanta mover of choice for local, long distance and interstate moves.

Phoebe greets everyone she meets with her equivalent of a big, wide smile. She does everything she can to please all who come in contact with her – both on a regular basis or just to get one thing done. She always appreciates every kindness shown to her.

Phoebe won’t give you and on-site estimate. Nor will she pack your goods, load your truck or make sure everything arrives and is unloaded safely. But Phoebe is with us every step of the way to remind us of what need to do for your stress-free moving experience.

At Maya Van Lines, Inc. there are no middlemen, agents or brokers to raise your cost and stand between us. Unlike many other companies, your move with Maya Van Lines begins the moment you call for your free estimate. As our valued customer you can always call on us to assist you with any questions regarding your move, or a future move. This is how we earned our reputation for dependability and customer satisfaction.

In most cases, local moving takes place within a 50-mile radius of your current location. Many commercial moves are considered local moves and are subject to the same industry standards as local moves. The industry standard is to charge by hour, with the hourly rate based on the number of movers and the number of trucks required for the job. We calculate your hourly rate during our onsite estimate, and that makes it important for you to show us everything you plan to move.

Our estimates include the time it will take our teams to leave the garage, arrive at your home and finish the job. If packing is needed, we charge for that by the hour, and we charge for materials based on actual usage. We provide you with all costs and charges at the time of our estimate.

The estimator assumes:

There will be a big enough parking space available to comfortably load and unload all of your belongings.
You did not forget to mention any items or services you will need. This can include items you had in the basement which you forgot to mention or extra appliances you have decided to take.
You have packed all that you said you would at the time of the estimate.
If applicable, an elevator will be available that’s big enough to hold large furniture.
Remember to always make sure your moving company has been assigned a US DOT number and has proper insurance – and never, ever sign blank paperwork or documents. Standard moving insurance is included in the price of a local move, and you can buy additional on the day of the move BEFORE the move begins. Just let your team leader know you want to make the purchase.

All local moves are regulated by state departments or agencies. In Georgia, we are regulated by Georgia Department of Public Safety. For any question concerning local moves in the state of Georgia please visit DPS website.

On the DPS website, you’ll find our Maya Van Lines Reliability Report Card, which covers:

Frequent complaints or customer dissatisfaction.
Failure to bring a customer complaint to completion in a timely manner.
Customer service or customer courtesy issues.
Unauthorized fees, rate or charge assessment in excess of tariff allowance.
Failure to respond to DPS inquiry or failure to respond to PSC inquiry in a timely manner.
DPS audited records which show customer overcharges or non-compliance with the Commission’s rules or tariff.
Based on information that the DPS has received or is aware of, Maya Van Lines has a SATISFACTORY RECORD, which means we do not have excessive or multiple problems related to any of those concerns.

Long distance moving are those that exceed 50 miles and may be within a state or outside it. Relocating is always stressful, and moving long distance has its own unique set of complex issues.

Proper planning makes all the difference in a successful long-distance move, and Maya Van Lines’ moving experts will help you get off to a good start. It is vital to reserve your date well in advance so you are able to move on the day that is best for you. Our planners will make sure you are provided with the right vehicles and crew to handle all your belongings.

Scheduling our onsite estimate is the best way to start planning your move and confirming your moving date. By taking a complete inventory of all the goods you plan to move, we can ensure having the manpower and equipment ready for your big day. As we take your inventory, we can help you decide which goods you can pack yourself and those that you may want us to pack. We will explain how we will disassemble some of your furniture for transport – and reassemble it in your new home as part of our delivery. We also will provide you with information on the types and sizes of boxes to use to protect your goods and fit efficiently in our truck.

By choosing Maya Van Lines as your long-distance moving partner, you can be assured you are working with professionals who know how to make your experience as stress-free as possible. We stand for quality and professionalism, and our commitment to you is to move your valuables and personal items with due care and make sure they arrive in the condition they left in. We offer competitive rates and clear and precise terms and conditions so there are no surprises.

You can learn more about our record from our federal Department of Transportation snapshot, and you can learn more about your rights and responsibilities from the DOT, which regulates interstate moves.

When your new place isn’t quite ready but you need to be out of your old one, consider in-transit / moving storage. At Maya Van Lines, we can arrange through our partners nationwide to have your property stored for as long as you need.

We can help you explore all of your options and provide you with pricing information during our onsite estimate.

How much do you need to store? A few rooms can contain a lot more than they seem at first glance. We account for the closets, attic, basement, garage and shed. We also take into account the volume of the packing materials you use.
How long will it need to be stored? If you are storing your goods while waiting for construction of your new home to be finished, you should plan for the inevitable delays that occur with new construction or renovation. Planning for an extra month of storage will make any delay less painful.
Is climate control a consideration? Mildew can grow on upholstery and artwork even if it does not get wet. In humid climates, we advise using fully climate-controlled storage facilities.
Is portable onsite storage an option? A transportable unit can be delivered to your home, and you can load it. When you are ready, it can be taken to another location for in-transit storage or delivered to your new home.

Q Should I have the mover come to my home to look at my goods?

You have the right to receive an estimate based on a physical (in-house) survey of your
shipment. Under the regulations, your mover must base your estimate (either binding,
non-binding, or not-to-exceed), on a physical survey of the household goods to be moved if
the goods are located with a 50-mile radius of your mover’s (or his agent’s) place of business.
You may elect to waive this requirement for a physical survey, but if you elect to do so,
you must sign a written waiver of your rights.

Q Is it a good idea to get an estimate over the phone or via the Internet?

In all likelihood, you will find that an on-site estimate based on a physical survey
of the items that you plan on moving will be more accurate than an estimate that you
provide to your mover over the telephone or the Internet. So, unless circumstances warrant
(normally due to the time constraints of a short-notice move or because you are only shipping
a few items) think carefully before you elect to waive the required physical survey
of your shipment.
